I wanted this cd to be a birthday gift to my mother, She wanted to have the soundtrack for the movie that Bill Cosby and Sidney Portier did back in the seventies. This song came about before I was born and although I still don't know if its the right cd, she enjoys it anyway. I am a fan of music from "back in the day" as my generation calls it and I found it to be a great album and a great band.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Fatback Band Have The Right Stuff, June 14, 2005
This review is from: Let's Do It Again (Audio CD)
This 1972 release 'Let's Do It Again' finds the Fatback Band at the beginning of their career. And what is it they're doing?Well if "Street Dance,"Free Form","Take A Ride (On The Soul Train)" and the the bouncy title song are any indication
these guys are in a high-energy funk jam mode-the rhythms, the guitars and the horns know their buisness in the finest JB's style tradition.Strange that a band later known for merging hard funk with early disco would be so raw to start with. And even potentially schlocky cover tunes like "Wicheta Lineman" get the deep groove treatment.
So if you more of a Tower Of Power and JB's funk sort of person 'Let's Do It Again' is right in the same league as those band's earlier records. It's classic funk all the way and very jam and groove oriented. The few vocals the songs do have or mearly rhythmic effects to be shouted and, even then the style is more street rap then harmonious. For lovers of that early 70's street funk party sound this album is sure to peak your interest. And who can resist such a mean rhythm section?
