Let's Do It for Johnny is pure ear candy. I love every song on this disc. Granted, I am not a long time fan. I do not have the first album and don't know about repeat songs, etc. The production is rad. The sound is big. The lyrics are exactly what I wanted out of this pure pop punk band. Unrequited love, odd situations, life in general and a screamin' cover of a Bryan Adams tune. What more could I want? Nothing. I would recommend this CD highly to anyone at all into the radio sounding pop punk scene. Even for those not in that scene, or deathly against it, the lyrics carry some weight. A worthwhile investment.

I've seen Bowling for Soup in concert 3 times. Each concert is better than the last. This band puts on a great show and really gets the crowd into it. This album is one of the best I have heard from a band that hasn't been around for a while. Every song grows on you till you can sing along with it. I think Bowling for Soup will be a big band because they sound alot like Blink 182 and the other bands that are making their way up the charts but they have a great sound and incredable lyrics. What else can you say about a band whose lyrics say "I sent her flowers and some candy, she opend them up and said your trying to make me fat". By the way Bowling for Soup is playing at my High School, Fossil Ridge so I have the greatest school for a little while.

BFS is a very talented band. They write catchy, undeniable pop-punk songs that instantly stick in your head. I've seen them live and their shows are among the most entertaining I've ever seen. I've met the guys and they are gracious, fun, and genuinely appreciative of their fan's support. However, I was upset at the unoriginal selection of songs on "Let's Do it for Johnny". 5 of the first seven songs have been on one of their two previous albums, and Belgium now appears on all three! Maybe the people at Jive told them what to put on the album, but their songs are so much fun to listen to that I wish there were more new ones. I hope they don't get lost in the shuffle with the tons of other pop punk bands out there that all sound the same. (Blink 182, SR71, Riddlin' Kids, Green Day, etc.) They deserve recognition on a national scale.

BFS is a totally awsome band. This is a really good CD. They have a pop-punk sound that is refreshing. The songs are hilarious. If you get a chance go see them in concert. The one I went to was really awsome. The band was cool to hang out with, funny, and personable. They let some friends of mine climb up on stage with them and took song requests. They even chose a special song just so some people could mosh. BFS is the best!!!

I love this Cd. It reminds me of the pure-alternative sounds from Cds like "Smash" by the Offfspring and "So Much for the Afterglow" by Everclear. "Suckerpunch" is my personal favorite song. It has sweet lyrics and the best beat of any song that I have ever heard. Their big hit, track number two, is an awesome song as well. Don't let the name deceive you, because it also has a great beat and sound. What makes this Cd get five stars, though, is the rest of the songs. I love "Scope", "Summer of 69", and "Valentino" because of the cool music. The whole Cd is like that though and I love every track. This is a Cd where the words aren't the only part that makes it great. The alternative sound makes it a great Cd and a must buy for all alternative fans.

A Texas band that knows how to rock out. They even put a country song on there! Very few albums like this where all the songs are good. Check it out! You don't need any bowling skills to listen too it!

Revoluinary But Not Perpetual,

In 1994 Generation X was given its soundtrack. Green Day and 'pop punk.' Yet six years later there was little left to be had. Green Day's Warning showed that the band that created punk phenomena in the 90s would be part of the death of it too.
Yet, Let's Do it for Johnny lit last candle of good American rock by a cool group of Texans. Not everybody was a fan of this. But for some of us the album and the band are awesome. The album was more than the historical last hurrah from the theater of good sound. It was about time when Blink 182, Weezer, and even MxPx creativly killed their own sound. And though a little bit exists through Bad Religion, Social Distortion, and most of the time Bowling For Soup Let's Do it For Johnny is a fond memory in the end of days for rock n' roll. I saw BFS in Portland Maine after the release of their most successfull album Hangover you Don't Deserve. It was a good show especially when they cut into Belgium. I met them after and they signed the back of my nicotine gum pack. I asked them what part of Texas they knew (I being Texan too) and they said Wichita Falls. (Place of a 1979 deadly f-5 tornado. The band was very laid back. They sat at a table in the front for more than an hour after the show talking to fans. And signing the back of nicotine gum packs. 1985 was popular on Radio Disney (with the censured "Debbie's gonna shake her stuff on the hood of..."). Some recent work Bowling For Soup did a theme song for a cheap cartoon on the Disney Channel. Yet, except for a few questionable unfortunate exceptions the band is real to their roots and still rocks. Let's Do It for Johnny will always be historical and awesome.

This CD is a great CD. Well, it was when it came out in 2000. I purchased this CD after buying the Drunk Enough To Dance CD (2002) and the songs just aren't as cool as the music we have nowadays. But if you're caught in the 90's then you need this CD. I really love this CD but after hearing Drunk Enough To Dance, it's not as good.

i was kind of dissappointed about this cd. first of all, its all slow pop-punk, and the guitars sound kinda mushy (its prolly just me). But, i got this, and i kept thinking what cd i should've gotten. Its definitely not a bad album, i was just expecting a couple fast break downs, and it remains very alternative-pop sounding. So all you "punkers" out there, steer clear of bowling for soup, but everyone who likes blink 182, pick this up.
