Editorial Reviews

Product Description
"Tinkling bells, straight-ahead acoustic guitar, and wobbly theremin [are] joined by elegantly skewed feedback and a subtle drum build-up ... the future doesn't really have to be so bleak. At least not for the next three minutes." -- Pitchfork BOAT is back with their second LP, Let's Drag Our Feet! Recorded in a basement in Seattle, the trio has improved upon the lo-fi sound of their debut. This time out, each song is an anthem. Slightly fuzzy vocals collide with simple guitar lines, start-stop drumming, handclaps, la las, ba bas, ooh oohs, slippery theremin, some eight-bit Nintendo keyboard sounds, electronic kazoo, double trumpet, and enough energy to make you play air drums and shout out lyrics in the car, office, deli, or wherever you spend your days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Show-BOAT some love!, November 2, 2007
I found out about BOAT *yes all caps* in preparation for Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party... the headliners were Aesop Rock, Spoon, John Vanderslice, etc. I checked nearly every other act out on Itunes first, and BOAT blew me away. Saying that they have a knack for catchy hooks, a playfulness with words and lyrics, and humorous titles don't do such an amazing band justice. We were so impressed with their live set at the event that we followed them to a live, exclusive set at Easy Street Records, also in Seattle. They were even better performing to a crowd of 30. Track 2 on the album has been stuck in my head for months, with the line "I'm a donkey for your love/I'll carry you on my back/my bones are made of steel/these bones they cannot crack" instantly reeling you in. He then proceeds to sing in a Lennon-esque voice for the verses, which probably is no mistake, since the song opens with the line "they told me about the strawberry field". Other standouts are "The Ferocious Sounds of Lobsters and Snakes", "Come with Me We'll Win", "I Really Really Think You Should Rethink Your Life' (which was dedicated to Guns n Roses fans), and my favorite... "Period/Blackslash/Colon". Just try to resist bouncing along to the upbeat chorus, magnificently built up to by some great slow, chilled out verses. This CD should be up there with "Boxer" and "Neon Bible" as the top albums of 2007. They are GREAT.
