A Real World Connection,
By An Elementary Science Teacher (Hewlett, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Let's Find Out about Ice Cream (Let's Find Out Books) (Paperback)
I recently discovered this book as I was making ice-cream with my second grade science classes. Our objective was to see how a liquid can change state to a solid when it is frozen. This book allowed the classroom teacher and I to team teach: she read the simple text page by page while we added the corresponding ingredients to our ice-cream mixture. The beautiful photographs provided a very powerful real-world, real-time connection to our activity. The difference in this lesson with the addition of this wonderful book was amazing!

Let's find out about ice cream,

This review is from: Let's Find Out about Ice Cream (Let's Find Out Books) (Paperback)
Great photos show children how ice cream is made from cow to the ice cream store. The illustrated picture map at the end is a good summation of what was covered in the book. It involves a lot of discussion about the process from young children.
