"goose-bumps with smooth grooves ~ We've Got It On",
This review is from: Let's Get It On: 18 Smooth Songs (Audio CD)
Just picked up this album "Let's Get It On", only knowing a few of the songs ~ but when I heard the other songs ~ I knew this was a great album! With classic tunes like Smokey Robinson "QUIET STORM" and The Isley Brothers "BETWEEN THE SHEETS", you can't go wrong ~ "DO IT TO ME", featuring Lionel Richie with smooth grooves ~ also the Brian McKnight song "CRAZY LOVE", because of the music and lyrics, McKnight's delivery gives this a special meaning. This is one of the best albums with smooth tunes out there right now ~ it has a good mixture of artists and songs. Don't sleep on this one. The songs just flow seamlessly from one track to the next ~ great collection of songs ~ you can't go wrong here with a perfect mixture of groovy tunes ~ which keep the upbeat tempo consistent. Add the occasional ballad. Unlike most compilation albums, there aren't many misses on this one ~ Nearly every track's a winner! If it's love your looking for---look no further, you've found it. Total Time: 65:57 on 18 Tracks ~ Hip-O Records 61299 ~ (1/13/2004)

Excellent album of R&B male singers from a 29-yr. span!,

I thought this album was very well done! Lots of smooth R&B ballads from a 29-year period of 1973 to 2002. It does have a sexy feel to it with how the singers sing the songs. Tracks 1 to 5 sound good back to back, Marvin Gaye, Barry White and Luther Vandross back to back--how can you beat that? There's a smart balance and lineage of placing the young '90s artists next to the more established artists on this album. It doesn't sound disjointed, uneven or mismatched at all--it all sounds smooth. As for the first reviewer, the album is 79 minutes long, not 65--a lot of the songs average 4 1/2 to over 5 minutes on here. This is a fabulously done and arranged album! No one has ever gotten to make this kind of compilation until now!
