Creative, Ingenious, and Fun for Little Ones,
By
This review is from: Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! (Let's Get Ready Series) (Paperback)
What a pleasure to find a book that is fun for parents as well as the young child they use it with. In addition, this book cuts to the quick by offering only what is necessary for kindergarten readiness, and thereby prevents overworking the child--and the parent wanting to cover all the bases. No more searching around for the right workbooks or information you need to prepare your child--it's all here, in colorful, lively, and re-usable format! Great for homeschoolers as well as any home with children from toddler-age to pre-school--or the slow learner needing a new way to approach basics. My three-year-old and I are having great fun with this. Highly recommend.

Perfect for Parents!,

As an independent literacy consultant I am constantly preaching the importance of parent involvement in children's literacy development. Nowhere have I seen a more practical, fun, easy-to-use tool for encouraging that relationship, just in time for the challenges of today's kindergarten. Without undue pressure or overstimulation, this book breaks most important elements of Kindergarten curriculum and what you need to get ready for that into tidbits that are digestible for parent and child like. The colorful illustrations and "one page per skill" approach make it appealing for anyone.

A good learning tool,

Imagine having a book that tells parents exactly what their children should know at each grade level. Imagine that children would want to read it, too. That's what you get with Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten!
In a kid-friendly format with engaging illustrations, Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! has dry-erase pages where children can practice again and again the skills they are learning. Children can practice their alphabet, numbers, rhyming, time, calendar, seasons and much more. And now for the personal experience. I have two children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall so I approached this book with more than a little trepidation. What do my children know? Have I failed them? Was keeping them out of preschool a bad idea? As we sat down to "play" with our new school book, my children jumped right in, practicing the skills and now want to do the book again and again. Although the title indicates "this is what you need to know," the literature that came with the book gives the feeling that they are the skills to master in the kindergarten year. As my children know about 50 percent of the information contained in the pages, that is a distinct difference. However, it is a good learning tool for all parents of the five-year-old crowd. Armchair Interviews says: A fun and engaging learning tool.

An irresistibly colorful, enticing, and interactive teaching and learning tool!,

Let's Get Ready For Kindergarten! is an irresistibly colorful, enticing, and interactive teaching and learning tool. My daughters (ages: 2, 4, and 5 years old) and I sat down for a fun-filled two-hour first-sitting.
My intention was to browse and catch a glimpse of what this book had to offer, but the girls' attentions were sparked! I was not allowed to take it away from them until we finished every single page, as the fundamental lessons were challenging to each of them on different levels. For example, our toddler enjoyed recognizing her letters, shapes, and colors. She participated in the lessons as long as her tired eyes would allow, until she finally fell asleep among her sisters' excitement. Our preschooler followed her kindergarten-sister's lead and loved every minute of our family time together. The next day the girls picked up the book themselves and our kindergartener acted as a teacher and asked our preschooler questions, like I did the previous night. They proudly shared their new discoveries (beyond the obvious lessons on each page), such as spotting one of the Cedar Valley Kids ™, Mrs. Good's new glasses, and finding where the Hippo was hiding. There are still little surprises now after one week that I'm surprised we haven't lost out initial excitement yet. My girls and I are absolutely hooked on dry-erase books, because they feel empowered to participate in the lesson. Rather than getting bored by re-doing the pages, they feel compelled to prove themselves "right" each day. Interactive activities such as the big-play-phone caused our kindergartener to memorize our number in minutes. Even though I have our phone number written throughout the house, and tried to teach her on our tiny cordless phone-keypad or our toy-phones, each teaching aid was not realistic enough for her to practice on. But by repeating and "pressing" the numbers in this book, caused her to reach our goal almost immediately. Now, half-way through our kindergartner year as a homeschool family, there's' only a couple of lessons we do not have perfected. This book acted as a great "test" as to where we stand. Mrs. Good and the Cedar Valley Kids™ are adorable and all the illustrations are outstanding! We look forward to "Growing with the Cedar Valley Kids" ™. I have no doubts that our preschooler will be complete with this book by her fifth birthday, ready to work side-by-side with her First Grade-sister. We eagerly await the new release. Linda and Stacey receive The Sabra Girls' high-fives, screeching cheers, and complete endorsement.

Just add time and attention and your little one WILL BE ready for kindergarten.,

Great book! Just add time and attention and your little one WILL BE ready
for kindergarten. I found this book to be packed with important skills and knowledge. "Let's Get Ready For Kindergarten!" seems to cover everything - ABC's, numbers, shapes, colors, the seasons, time and clocks, and even using a telephone. This is an excellent book to help parents, teachers or child care providers assist young children in learning. Great for your homeschool, too! I would also recommend it for ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers because it is so comprehensive. The book is well thought out and the information is well presented. You will find your children flipping through the pages again and again because of the fun, colorful and interesting illustrations. They'll love keeping track of the happy blue hippo (hint: it's in a different spot throughout the book). Plus, you can write on it with dry erase markers and wipe it clean! Every young child should have this book!

This sturdy write on-wipe off book does so many wonderful things. It is a parent guide to the kindergarten curriculum. It is an activity book for children. It is tool for parents to reinforce school skills at home. It can be a great parent involvement tool. The illustrations are clear and the instructions are easy to follow. Using this book, parents can take an active role in teaching children the concepts every kindergartener needs to learn.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! (Let's Get Ready Series) (Paperback)
Well, I bought this off the reviews and I will admit my almost 5 year old does enjoy going through the book, but it is partially because she gets to write in a book, which is usually a no-no. I certainly would not call this a stand alone educational book. I am a homeschooler and I have an 8 year old that I teach. So this comes in handy sometimes when we are doing a subject that is over my 5 year olds head. She can sit at the desk with us and be quiet as she draws in her book.
I will say I do think it is over priced and that is my main reason for giving it a low rating. If the price were lower I would give it a 3 1/2 - 4 stars.

A MUST for all parents,

Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! is a must for all parents with young children, I myself as both a mother and grandmother highly recommend this for your children. This book is a must and one that I have been searching for, it is packed with great information, it is beautifully illustrated and was created with style.
"Parents wrote Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! with approval from a panel of teachers and curriculum specialists as a solution to "no child left behind." The book is 32 pages and is a dry-erase book for children ages 2 to 6. This book is great for parents and grandparents by allowing them to take an active role in their children's education even before they enter school, allowing children to make the transition with confidence. Most parents want to be involved with their children's education but are unsure of what to do, kindergarten is not like it was when we were younger, now kindergarten has a much more advanced curriculum requiring parents to work with their children before beginning school. This book is wonderful and again I would like to stress is a MUST for all parents and grandparents looking for that perfect educational tool before sending our children off to the first day of school. When my daughter was small I tried to find the perfect tools to help her before sending her off to school and so wish this series had been available, I will make sure to purchase each for each grade level to help to assure my grandson is ready and is confident before he starts each grade level beginning with kindergarten. An additional plus for these books are that they are durable, they allow the children to write in them with a dry erase pen and wipe off with ease for future practice over and over again. Again I would like to say these are GREAT and are a MUST and come highly recommended!!

As an elementary educator and author myself, I can honestly say that I have seen nothing that compares to this book. I believe every parent who has a child in Kindergarten, or about to be in Kindergarten, should own this book. They are functional, brightly designed and draw the parent and child into a fun place to learn.

Great Learning Took,
This review is from: Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten! (Let's Get Ready Series) (Paperback)
Every child that is getting ready for Kindergarten should have this book! It is a great learning tool! I have used some of the activities with the 3 year old that I care for and she loves it! It is great for the little one's self esteem too. They are so proud when they know the answers. I would love to see this book in every Pre-K and kindergarten classroom in the country.
