Nostalgia City for Us Baby Boomers!,
This review is from: Let's Get Together (Audio CD)
Who can forget Hayley Mills (and Hayley Mills) singing their heart(s) out to Brian Keith in The Parent Trap? Remakes be dashed. Here is the real thing, with Hayley and Hayley trying to get their separated parents back together by bopping their way through their own song, "Let's Get Together." I've been looking for this for years, and lo! here is a CD with twelve, count 'em, Hayley hits. Buttered popcorn, saddle shoes, and big wide smile, anyone?

Frankly, I can't get enough of Hayley's movies, so a CD like this is a godsend. Sure, the song choices are a safe batch--but considering this was aimed at 12-year-olds, I'm really surprised at how professionally it's assembled(the fantastic Tutti Camarata was the arranger, no wonder!). "Let's Get Together" is here, and the flip-side "Cobbler, Cobbler"(very cute!). I also loved "Jimmie Bean" and "Cranberry Bog". Might provoke some embarrassed giggles, but so what! As Hayley might say, "Enjoy it!"

aww i adore hayley mills, even though im only 16 years old! but ive seen her in parent trap, pollyanna, whistle down the wind and cat from outer space but unfortunately not in her others which im dying to see one day.shes such an amazing actress and even though she may not be the best singer of all time, shes such a novelty in her songs and she sings with grace and passion. shes one of a kind, our hayley and despite the first comment written about the cd(above) she sure can sing a note for more than a second if you listen! so im annoyed at them sayin she can't. anyway i love all the songs on this cd especially "lets get together"-go for it n buy it!
peace.. x x

I WAS THRILLED TO FIND THAT A C.D ON HAYLEY MILLS HAD BEEN RELEASED.I REMEMBER HOW EXCITING IT WAS,IN THE 60'S WHEN "THE PARENT TRAP" DISNEY MOVIE CAME OUT (THE ORIGINAL)!! PRIOR TO ME SEEING IT, CALIFORNIA STATIONS WERE PLAYING "LET'S GET TOGETHER" AS "AS THE HIT PICK OF THE WEEK" (AS THEY USED TO SAY). WHEN I SAW THE MOVIE WITH HAYLEY AS A DOUBLE, SINGING IT,I WAS THRILLED. SHE WAS A GREAT ACTRESS AND HER SONGS DELIVER HER CARISMATIC ENERGY. HER NEXT SINGLE WAS "JOHNNY JINGO" (ALSO FEATUERED IN THIS C.D.). IT WASN'T AS BIG A HIT AS "LET'S GET TOGETHER" BUT IT DID MANAGE TO GET AIR PLAY ON THE TOP ROCK N ROLL STATIONS. HAYLEY , LIKE ANNETTE FUNICELLO, WAS A TREMENDOUSLY POPULAR DISNEY STAR AND WE ALL ADORED THEM BOTH IN THAT WONDERFUL ERA OF THE 60'S. THIS C.D. HELPS BRING IT ALL BACK.SO DON'T WORRY WHAT ANYONE THINKS. JUST ENJOY IT. YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE IT TOO!!

Finally! Hayley on CD!!!,

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw one of my favorite 1960's rarities was finally available on CD! I bought the LP at a collectible records shop about 12 years ago, but simply had to add the CD to my Hayley collection. Quite simply the ultimate teen idol of all time, Hayley was a far better actress than singer, but this album is wonderful for what it is -- a period piece, so 1962. The sound quality is excellent, considering the age of the masters, and I am freshly reminded how good some of the instrumentation is on this classic album. Any Hayley collector contemplating this purchase really should go for it! And the cool thing is that so many people who were never able to find (or afford) the original vinyl can now have this wonderful album! END

Okay, it's not great music. But for those of us who owned the 45s and may have actually owned THIS album...this is fantastic! Lord, the music is mediocre, the voice is mediocre...the memories are ONE OF A KIND. If you loved Hayley Mills in the 60s....you'll LOVE this very ordinary, yet ONE OF A KIND CD. I also recommend you find "Teenage Triangle" with James Darrin (Darren?) Paul Petersen and Shelly Fabrae (spelling WAY off there)-- we're SO lucky that these one-of- kind
"classics" are now available on CD. Find 'em...buy em!

Hayley Mills Fan since 1969,
This review is from: Let's Get Together (Audio CD)
I first saw Hayley Mills in - Pollyanna - when it was shown on television on The Walt Disney Show back in 1969. I was 10 years old and in the 4th grade and I was completely mesmerized by her performance in that movie. I fell in love with her from the moment she appeared on screen. I got to see her other Disney and non - Disney movies over the years and was always captivated by her natural acting ability. I finally discovered her as a singer in 1977 when I was 18 and purchased this album in an oldies record shop. I thought the songs were very cute. My favorite song on the album is Cobbler Cobbler. If you are a Hayley Mills fan you will enjoy at least half the songs on this album. The songs are fun to listen to and fun to sing along with. Her 2 best songs were Castaway and Sweet River both released together on the same 45 record. You should really check them out. Her songs from the movie - Summer Magic - were also very enjoyable to listen to and the movie was really great.

Limited edtion re-release,
This review is from: Let's Get Together (Audio CD)
This release is by Walt Disney Records, and was part of an experiment that Disney conducted in 1998. They released in a CD format a small sampling of 5 vintage records from the vault in very limited editions to see how they would sell. This was known as the Archive Collection. During the period that Randy Thornton was rescuing the soundtrack albums of classic Disney movies, and remastering them for new releases, I believe he was allowed to pick a handful of the non-animated film LPs to get the same treatment. Had they sold better, we would see more like these. As it was, the market for them was not big enough for Disney to re-release the whole catalog. As it was these were each in a small enough limited edition as to be numbered on the rear of the jewel case. The others 4 CD's in the group include Rex Allen Sings 16 Favorite Songs; Burl Ive's Chim Chim Cheree; Cliff Edward's Ukelele Ike Sings Again; Louis Prima & Gina Maione's Let's Fly With Mary Poppins.
This Hayley Mills album was first released in 1962, and was produced by Disney regular Camarata. The title track was a top ten hit as a result of the Disney comedy movie, "The Parent Trap", in which Mills appeared in a dual role as 2 twin sisters. Another song on the LP, Ding Ding Ding, nearly made it to the top 20. The songs in order are: 1. Jeepers Creepers 2. Green and Yellow Basket 3. Sentimental Sunday 4. Ding Ding Ding 5. Side by Side 6. Cranberry Bog 7. Little Boy 8. Cobbler, Cobbler 9. Johnny Jingo 10. Pollyanna Song 11. Jimmie Bean Song 12. Let's Get Together

I was infatuated with Hayley when I was 13 and this was one of the first albums I ever bought. I found it a bit weird at the time, with its mix of classic numbers (Side By Side), 30's style throwbacks (Jeepers Creepers, Sentimental Sunday), "rock'n'roll" (Ding, Ding, Ding) and "cute" (Cranberry Bog, Jimmie Bean Song). Let's Get Together was great however!! But all are characterised by Hayley's total inability to sing a phrase in one breath, hold a tune, or inject any sort of personality into the music. The arrangements are ghastly. I've toyed with the idea of buying it for old time's sake, but basically, it's unlistenable! You can share her pain if you're brave enough to shell out for it.
