Adelle Davis was pioneer in the nutrition revolution, July 20, 2000
Let's get well, indeed! In the late '60s and early '70, when it was difficult to find reliable, well-researched information on nutrition that was geared to mainstream readers, Ms. Davis published several books. My seven-year-old son was always dizzy and fatigued back then, and the doctor put him in the hospital for a weeklong battery of tests that turned up nothing. That's when someone introduced me to Adelle Davis's books. I read them with great interest and discovered that my child was perhaps exhibiting symptoms of vitamin C deficiency. I put him on mega-doses of C and he became a normal, healthy little boy within a week. The idea that some people need more vitamins than others had not occured to the medical profession back then. I used one of Adelle Davis's super-nutrition formulas on my cat who had been poisoned, had a green tongue, and was declared "almost dead" by vet...and the cat went on to live 19 years. I owe a great deal to this pioneering woman and recommend that anyone concerned about their health read this book and give it due consideration.

Seeing is Believing, November 21, 1999
I first read Adelle Davis' book, "Let's Eat Right to Keep Fit" was when I was planning to nurse my children back in the early '70's. At that same time, my husband suffered from chronic dehabilitating backpain. After three different diagnoses and 3 surgeries with no relief, we went to a specialist for arthritic disorders, a highly respected doctor and chairperson of the Arthritis Association for the East Coast. My husband was diagnosed with advanced Ankylosing Spondylitis (fusion of spinal column). His aorta was already compromised. My husband followed Adelle Davis's diet describe in "Lets Get Well" and reversed the aortitis. His doctor, who was just begining to retire, said that in all his years of practice at a major medical institution, and his years of following research, he had never witnessed anything like this. He considered writing it up for the journals, but as I mentioned, he was in the process of retiring. Then my son, at 4 1/2 years old developed Stills Disease, a form of Juvenille Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is genetically inherited from fathers who have Ankylosing Spondylitis. The treatment at a major NY hospital included 96 mg of solumedrol alternate day therapy, weening him with large doses of asprin. He was considered one of the 5 most severe cases in the country. I looked to 'Adelle' to try to reduce the horrific side effects of cortisone and high-dose asprin therapy. For four years my son was in an out of remission because I didn't always follow the diet as doctors felt nutrition was never an answer in those days. When I finally realized that my son needed something in that diet in order to be well, I stuck to it and followed Adelle Davis' suggestions carefully. He went into a permanent remission for 8 years, all the while adhering to the diet. At subequent clinic visits, many a doctor would stand outside the door and read the medical history and expect to see on the other side of the door, a very sick, immobile, inactive boy. Instead they saw an alert, energetic, inquisitive boy. They always wanted to know what I was doing and I told them nutrition. "Hmmm" they said. This was a teaching hospital. I would later meet children who were diagnosed with less severe cases of Stills who were dwarfed, deformed, and sullen...who did not have the benefits of the antistress formula describe in Adelle Davis' book. I will be eternally grateful to Adelle for sharing her knowledge. My son during those 8 years, played soccer and won competitions and scholarships for his ability to play classical piano. What a gift she gave my child.

Top Notch Advice on Nutrition, August 8, 2000
Adelle Davis was a brilliant expert in the field of nutrition. Her advice on sensable eating and diet are so applicable and useful, but at the same time simple it will surprise you. No complexity here. She was light years ahead of her time in the field of nutrition, and it is demonstrated here in this great book. I highly advise seeking out her other titles from wherever you can obtain them because they are incredibly valuable. No household is complete without an Adelle Davis reference!
