Before I travel anywhere--especially in Europe--I usually pick up a 'Let's Go' guide. Inevitably, though, I get seduced by one or more of the flashier, slicker looking books, all of which wind up sitting around unused. In the years I've travelled, there's never been one thing I could think of that the 'Let's Go' books didn't address. Do yourself a favor: pick up 'Let's Go' and save the rest of your money to spend on your trip.

this book is really thorough and essential to any first-time traveller. plus the writer's light-hearted introduction to places makes it less intimidating when faced with the confusing British system for the uninitiated. i got everything i need for the trip, and the only thing keeping me back from giving it all 5 stars is the inconvenient organization of the book that will leave you flipping back and forth for information on any one area.

This book is great, especially if you will be in Great Britain studying abroad. It gives all of the student budget places to crash, eat, etc. The recommendations for places Scotland and Wales were especially wonderful and without flaws. Stick with the "Let's Go" special recommendations (indicated with a thumb symbol) and YOU ARE SET! A friend and I used it all year for weekend after weekend of great trips.
