THE CHILD DEVIANT,
By CRAZOTOLOGY (Joplin, MO. (USA)) - See all my reviews

Another great album by these Industrial/Goth/EBM-Cyber Freaks!!!! This album hits harder than the prior album (Viscera) and leans closer to the "gothic" side of things than the "industrial" side. I'm no genius, but I know an entertaining album when I hear one....and this album is certainly entertainment. >:)

Fall from grace,
By Scott Edward Calibraxis (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews

Ok, in reference to the reviewer who wrote "Dark???"---the person certainly didn't know what genre he was getting into. This is "dark electronic" or "ebm" or "industrial music"...in other words, essentially dark and edgy dance music.
Ok, now that that is out of the way, let me say that prior to releasing this chunk of mediocrity, God Module created several of the most wonderful albums ever to grace the field of decadent dark electronics. Every other recording by them is a must for any serious fan of the genre, and they are all total masterpieces. This record, however, features that common problem- the Yoko Ono Effect. Yes, the guy brought his girlfriend (wife?) into the band, and gave her plenty of room to write and sing, and result is pure, unmitigated, boring garbage. As a vocalist, she is nothing, and as a songwriter, less than nothing. If you take the time to upload this to iTunes, just delete all the tracks that feature the female vocalist, and you'll have yourself a nice little EP. Even so, the songs are weaker in general than previous releases. I hate to say it, but for the sake of the music, I hope Mr. God Module gets dumped and goes back to being lonely, angry, and inspired to create beautiful rage-fueled songs like he used to.

This may be dark in a lyrical way, but in no way is it heavy! By the reviews I read, I thought it might lean towards a heary metal sound, but not at all. It's much more pop synth than anything, like something to listen to while watching "The Munsters". Not a totally bad CD, just not at all what I expected and much less of a hard driving rythym than I usually listen to. How diverse of a musical taste do you have?
