I love the Let's Go guides. They're great for providing what I think is most important. Key sites and how to get to them. I'd rather have a guide that tells me which metro stop to get off on, than a guide that omits that to fit in 3 pages of history of the place. (I can always read the history later, when I haven't gotten lost in some city trying to find the place).

I used the 1998 Let's Go USA to go back and forth across close to 40/50 states. I bought the 2002 version for other within country trips. I was irritated though to find that when I went to research a Hawaii trip-- apparently Hawaii was no longer part of the US. (I went back & checked, it was in the 1998 guide).

I was considering buying this latest version (hoping they had realzied they forgot a state and restored Hawaii's statethood). However, this latest version now seems to omit both Hawaii and now Alaska as well!

Maybe they should rename the guide to Let's Go - Continental USA only - otherwise it's inappropriate labelled as a guide to the entire US & Canada.

I think the book is one of the best books I have ever saw written and read on the United States of America for a book traveling throughout the country visiting places like the Mall of America or Ocean City on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

this is just a compact book meant as a summary and to help you get an idea of the city you're going. If you want a more detailed description etc of the city, pick an individual book but overall, this book helped me find some good hostels. I love living at a hostel, it's cheap and you get to meet people from all over the world. Already made a lot of friends through hostel living.

I bought this book when my husband and I were going to take a road trip across country. He chickened out and we've never gone....the book sits on the bookshelf waiting for him to get brave enough to leave the farm. :) I think, if we ever go, it'll be a fun book to have along!!
