Mistakes with Articles!,

I'm an adult, learning German and I felt a fun book like this with pictures to help me remember the nouns would be a lot easier to learn from than just plain text to read.It is that, it's good to see the picture and associate that along with the English meaning. The problem is on a few occassions (about 3) the articles were wrong. The book said the noun was a 'der' when it was a 'die' and so forth. This was huge to me because when learning German nouns, you must know the right article in order to use them in sentences correctly.

WE moved to Germany and knew nothing about the language. My five year old (and his parents) have learned a great deal of vocabulary from this book. My son and his German friend use it to help each other out. We, the parents, use it because of it's user-friendly pronunciation key and quick alphabetical guide in the back!

I bought this book on a lark for my (then) 1-year old since we decided to teach her my mother's native language. Now at 16-months, she really enjoys looking at the illustrations. It is cleverly designed with individual images along the page edges and one large picture incorporating all the smaller ones. They're thoughtfully done by "scenes": in the classroom, at the airport, in the grocery store, etc.Excellent resource for anyone but especially the younger set!

This is a book for children. It discussed child's things. That said, those basic words are words that I need and can use as well. I have had a lot of success learning German using Rosetta Stone's TOTALe product, which runs in total immersion and based on photos and pictures. And so I went searching around looking for German English Bilingual Visual Dictionary (DK Visual Dictionaries) and when I found this I bought this one, too -- and it is a joy to look through and read. I can't wait for the vocab to catch up with me on Rosetta Stone so I bought this one in the hope that I could learn some of the words that I might well use every day were I to know the words. And, I don't really like books of vocab -- I like associating images with German meaning, not English words. So, I bought this book and love the book and love to share the book, too, because it is fun to bring folks into my current hobby: learning German.

I bought this on a whim for my son-in-law, who is a Middle School German teacher. He opened it on Christmas day and absolutely loved it. He said it will come in very handy for his lessons at school.

This appears to be a pretty good book, but it is definitely not for young children. It is too full of busy pictures for my 18-month old (who already speaks and understands a good amount of German, Spanish, French and English.
