Before heading out on a trip to India, I looked through the languages section of a number of bookstores and searched the internet tryng to find a book which I could use to learn Hindi rather quickly. Luckily I found Let's Learn Hindi, because within a very short period of time I was able to construct sentences in Hindi using the book, and the extensive vocabulary was especially helpful once I was in India and finding my way around. The book was that simple and easy to use. Bravo!

Definitely a very easily laid out user friendly system that would be very beneficial to new learners of Hindi. Includes script and transliteration. Many simplified grammar lessons and a mini dictionary as well as many interesting little tidbits on the Hindi language and its usage etc.

I bought this book because it was the highest rated on Amazon. I have friends who speak Hindi and they promised to help me out since I wanted to learn. When I used this book as a guide, they kept asking me what the hell I was trying to say. I showed them the book, they looked through it and laughed. They all said the pronounciation guide is complete junk and that if I went to India and actually talked like that they'd think I was mentally retarded. Don't waste your money on this book. Get one written by somebody who actually KNOWS how to pronounce the letters.
