Johnny Gill one of the most underrated young vocalist in r&b today had a string of hits like Half Crazy, great collaboration with child hood friend Stacy Lattisaw Perfect Combintion .. Great performances with New Edition on such tunes Can You Stand The Rain, Boyz II Men.. Solo hits like Rub You The Right Way, My My My.. Soundtrack accomplishments Boomerang, Mo Money.. Johnny delivers his finest and most underrated album of his career .. Let's Get Mood Right is an 14 track smooth, seductive musical experience excuted perfectly .. Every song on this disc is simply great working with some of the best producers on the music scene Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Tony Rich, Big Bub ( Formely of the group Today), Babyfacea gave Johnny the best material they could to work with he deliver the goods .. The best track on the disc is Take Me I'm Yours this song is a thing of beautiful from the symphonic opening you will be hooked on this song.. Among other great highlites Let's Get The Mood Right, Maybe, Touch, Love In An Elevator, Someone To Love .. If this CD cant get you in that mood then something wrong.. This was Johnny's best CD. It didnt get its proper attention. They only played a few songvs off the CD on the radio. It is a great buy if you like mellow music. Johnnys voice is so sexy. I highly recommend.

JOHNNY, where are you?,

Johnny is by far, the best male vocalist of this generation. He and Maxwell both put such emotion into the words they write and sing. This cd is truly a gem. You know you are listening to something special when you put it on and you don't skip a song. I actually find myself repeating a couple of them. The title of this cd says it all... "Let's Get The Mood Right". That, Johnny did. This is definitely great late night music for setting the mood. It is also good relaxation music after a hard days work. The best songs on the cd have to be the Babyface written title track. One cannot forget to mention the song, "Maybe"(what a great song title)and it's haunting melody (you will find yourself humming it all day long and not even notice it!). The track that takes the cake, hands down, has to be "Take Me (I'm Yours)", which in my opinion, a lot of us men can relate to. Trust me, that song is about 7 and a half minutes of pure heaven! Johnny definitely put his heart and soul into this project. It is a shame he hasn't put anything out since. If you are a mature listener then you HAVE to purchase this. You will not be dissapointed.

I owned this CD when it came out, somehow it got lost when I moved. I could not help but try to find it again. This is grown folks music for real! I love Johnny Gill's voice and his style. He has a gospel tinged voice and he knows how to use it.
I do long for another J.G.album. He is deffinately a talented man who has been blessed with an incredible voice. This album is awesome and a true mood setter for a husband and wife on a romantic evening! It's a classic and I am the proud owner!

As the title for this 1996 CD suggests, the more mid-tempo/ballad side of Mr. Gill are given more prominent on this release. Now this wouldn't be a problem if these songs were of the quality that we are used to on afore mentioned CDs by Johnny. What we have here are some half decent songs, that whilst not awful, are a par down on what we are used to from this artist. On to many of these songs, they all merge into each other. Only a hardcore fan/lover of quiet storm moment would fine anything of any value here. I never had my copy for long, giving it to my big Sister, who loved all things Johnny back then.
As for the more the more up-tempo songs, 'I know you Want me is OK' as is 'So gentle'. This was the last Johnny Gill Cd I purchased( and I think that this was his last major solo CD release) With a voice like Mr. Gill has, this is a crying shame!

Wonderful effort; Johnny gets a little mellow on this effort too,

This is such a wonderful effort. It consists of mostly ballads, but Johnny Gill pulls it off on all the songs. Sometimes, Johnny gets a little mellow on some cuts given the maturity and adult romantic feel of the songs. I still love the gorgeous Let's Get the Mood Right. It makes for good music to hear in the bedroom late at night. Other favorites are Touch, Maybe and Having Illusions. I love the sexy It's Your Body and the late Roger Troutman of Zapp being on it. One of Roger's best of his final performances when he was alive. It still surprises me that he would follow the somewhat uneven Provocative with this well sung, well performed effort. Staying true to himself and his vocal style is what makes his third Motown album my second favorite album by him.

Johnny Gill is once again in top form on his fifth solo CD, a feat which many artists only wish that they could achieve. For this CD,Mr. Gill enlisted producers such as Babyface, R.Kelly, Tony Rich,Jam & Lewis and Mr. Gill even does some production and writing himself. Stand out tracks include Let's Get The Mood Right, Maybe, It's Your Body, Someone To Love and Love In A Elevator.

This CD can take you where you want to go with that special someone. Nothing but romance through out, my favorites are "Its Your Body" and "Maybe" and "Love in an Elevator" I have to say it's one of Johnny's best CD ever. The last three songs aren't that great but the first ten definately makes up for that its a great CD.
