Pretty good, July 15, 2003

This review is from: Let's Not Sleep (Paperback)
It's a pretty good book. It's not a perfect book but then first poetry collections rarely are. But there are enough great poems in it. "Sonnet for Carryhouse and Keeper", "Habituation", "Song For A Red-Dyed Sunflower", "I, Woman", "Bridge Ghazal", "Birth Ghazal", "She Was Like Persephone", "Fawn Ghazal", "You Are Not A Poet", "Guilt", and "Rain Ghazal" are all excellent. And there are several other very good poems. And the two "sex poems" aren't really "sex" poems. They seem more about spiritual connection and good self-esteem. All in all I enjoyed the book and will hang on to it. I suspect that the next book will be truly excellent.
