5.0 out of 5 stars polluted rock
WDE play some of the most polluted rock ever recorded and the fact that they are an 80's band makes their sound even more impressive. The bass is deep and rumbling with a solid drum holding the corrosion together. The guitar is a monster: atonal at times and almost unlistenable on first play. It is the sound of corrosion and industrial waste. Although bleak at times,...

2.0 out of 5 stars You must know
This late 80s industrial/rock hybrid had an incredible sound, immense bass and guitar decaying in space. You won't find that here. For some reason, this CD (mastered from vinyl) sounds awful - hollow, too much mid range, no PRESENCE. Imagine a boombox cassette being played into a microphone. What happened? I remember the vinyl sounding a lot richer...

It is the sound of corrosion and industrial waste. Although bleak at times, there is much to rock to. On first listen it was too much. Then I played it again, and again, and over until it made perfect sense. There is nothing like this cd around. I was surprised to see it in this format finally after only having it on vinyl years ago. WDE were criminally overlooked in their day but remain highly original and relevant even today.

Forget the Jesus and Mary Chain and the fake psychocandy, kids - this stuff will pummel you into submission. I've been playing my vinyl since around 1988 - nice to have a clean CD version to annoy the neighbors with.
