This CD is a collection of songs, mostly rarities and B-sides. However, one cannot tell that after a few listens. Good performances and well-written material for the most part, particularly the tracks "Breathe Deep" and "1 and 3." The opening track is good as well. This CD sounds less polished and slick, especially in comparison to their more recent studio albums. In the end, this CD rocks and has almost as many hooks as "Panic," which makes it my surprise of 2006!

Very Nice for a B-Side album,

I am very pleased with this album of b-sides from mxpx. At first listen, nothing seemed to impress me. But when I listened closer, I noticed some really nice work by them. First of all "1 and 3" is a unique sounding track that is quite catchy. "Breath Deep", the single off the record, also stands out to me. I actually really enjoyed when they went a little ballady on me for a couple songs, including "Don't Forget Me" and "Where Did You Go"
I would recommend this to any long-time fan of mxpx, but for a new fan of the band, I would suggest you pick up "Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo" or "Teenage Politics" before this one. I think this album is better if you already know the mxpx stuff really well. Cheers. BTW, I'm definitely not thirteen. I'm 14, thank you very much.

I have always loved this band and probably always will. This album is different than most of their other stuff but in a good way. If you like party rock more than punk rock then give it a try. It's just fun music.

Tough To Love It,

I think the problem with this album and many b-sides albums is the lack of fluidity in the songs. To me, it definitely has the feel of a compilation cd. I also wonder if any of these songs were originally Arthur tracks (Mike's short-lived side band). If you've heard Arthur, listen to "Don't Forget Me" and "Where Did You Go?" and compare.
The combination of the mediocrity of the songs and the short length make the cd difficult to really enjoy. Sadly, when I go through my MxPx collection or playlist, I skip this album. They recorded a better version of "You Walk, I Run," on the Responsibility Single (which is selling for $100 on Amazon! I paid $6 at Hot Topic). "Make Up Your Mind" was also on that single. If they had put some bonus featues on the cd like the new Let It Happen, I might recommend it, but overall, it's a product for the collector/die hard fan. Let's not kid ourselves, it's a b-side album which means it's not their best work, but nevertheless it's more MxPx songs for people to enjoy (to some degree).

Let's Rock... what an Ironic Title,
By Me (The Middle of Nowhere) - See all my reviews

There are a few good tracks on here like 1 and 3, and the classic "Where Will We Go?" but they aren't in the traditional MxPx style. It's easy to see why all of these songs were left off of albums (the CD spans B sides from the Ever Passing Moment to Panic). The problem is not that it doesn't sound like traditional MxPx, but it's just not good. The guys excel at punk, rock, and even power pop, but this quasi-emo crap is just that - crap. It really makes me wonder why the title of the CD was "Let's Rock" when half of the songs are ballads. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with ballads, but most of these songs are just turgid and whiny.
When MxPx put out Let It Happen they put out a brilliant B Sides album, and there's a reason why that record has sold 400,000+ copies. What really makes me mad is that even I could have compiled a better B sides album than this, it's not like their B-Sides are worse than the Let It Happen era, there are some truly good songs - songs like The Broken Bones, The Empire, Arrest Me, My Mistake... and even the three new ones on the Let It Happen Re-Release. But Let's Rock is just a bad CD, sorry guys. Steer clear of this unless you are the most die hard MxPx fan. Pick up Secret Weapon or Let it Happen instead.

As a longtime fan of MXPX I was disappointed by this album. I know it is a compilation of rarities with a couple of new songs tacked on, but they could have done better than this. At barely over 35 minutes, the album really is not worth full LP price. Out of the 12 songs, only 9 are traditional MXPX songs. The other 3 are acoustic, with 1 being a repeat of the first song on the album. That's just 11 songs on the whole thing. I know there are tons of B-sides and other rarities to be found that they could have added. There are a half dozen Christmas songs they could have included(Each year MXPX puts out a new Christmas song on their website). This album really feels like they put zero effort in it. For their fans they should have done better.

I've been a long time fan of MXPX and I thought this album was a good mix of rarities with 3 great new tracks. If you dig this band this CD won't let you down.

I have been an MxPx fan for years and I have to say that this is by far my least favorite cd by them. I thought the cd sounded over produced, and it didn't even have a slight punk rock sound. This cd was not pop punk, it was really just pop. If you are thinking about listening to MxPx for the first time, this is NOT the cd to start off with. If you want to hear them at thier best check out Slowly Going The Way Of The Buffalo, Life In General, or Panic. Really, I like all of thier cds minus this one.
