Best Song of The Year,
By
This review is from: Let's Get It Started 1 (Audio CD)
In August,I had bought the album "Elephunk", and I thought that "Let's Get It Started", was on there as a hidden bonus track as I had heard. I was wrong. I know that people prefer "Let's Get It Started" over "Let's Get Retarded", because some find the latter offensive. I don't, but I do like the former radio mix better. No because of the language, but because of the music. The radio mix has a mot more percussion thrown in which gives it a lot of punch. It also has additional instruments that are NOT present on the album version. I recommend that you get this single if you have the iriginla version of the "Elephunk" album, for "Let's get It Started" because it is worth it. also the album version is on here, so you can compare the music to the two. Also included is a really good smooth song called "The Way You Make Me Feel", from their other album "Bridging the Gap".

Disappointed,

My children really like Let's Get It Started, and the radio versions I've heard they use no profanity. I purchased the Elephunk CD, there is a lot of profanity on that CD, but there is no warning label. There are some of us out here who would like to be warned. Major disappointment. The Peas seem talented enough to make the music without the profane lyrics. You can keep it real and keep it clean at the same time. Not asking for role models, just asking for good music.

"Let's Get It Started" is a cool dance song with a great beat. Yes, it is true that there is bad language in it, but I THINK you can buy the unexplicit version.
"Let's Get Retarded"? That sounds like a song MAKING FUN of "Let's Get It Started"! I've heard both, and that's definately what it sounds like. Why would Black-Eyed Peas make a joke of themselves like that? Anyway, I'm personally not a huge Black-Eyed Peas fan. They cuss, and I don't like to have to worry what they're going to say when my parents are around.

Catchy track right here...,

I was never much a BEP fan 'till this one came out, now I realize they're a pretty good, innovative group. This song leans more in the rap direction than their other singles off "Elephunk", which is great since BEP has some pretty good MCs. This is one catchy and infectious song, to say the least. If you like this one, pick up the "Elephunk" CD, I don't own it but I hear it's worthwhile. However, I think that this particular song is one of their best.
P.S. Is it just me, or does the cover of the "Elephunk" CD look an AWFUL LOT like the cover for Goodie Mob's "Still Standing" CD?!?!

Alan Pounds and D. Brown should be ashamed of themselves. There is a reason lyrics are edited for radio, it's call children. If you were a parent, you would understand the reason for removing curse words. Perhaps that is what is wrong with the young people in society today, they lack respect for those around them. I want to be able to drive my 8 year old to school and listen to the radio without hearing the F word. I'm aware that she's going to hear it from other kids, but I don't need to condone it or let her see that I condone it. Perhaps if there were less people like these 2 music listeners, there would be less kids walking the streets spewing obscenities in the presence of young children. It's not cool to cuss and no, it's NOT a part of life. Have some self respect.

Though, I love the beat and style of B.E.P, I was really disappointed with bad explicit lyrics. Nothing like it's played on the radio. Problem is, you can't find any "radio" versions.
Be sure to listen to it before buying it for you kids.

The Black Eyed Peas are the best group out there right now, and this new single is no different. The original version of this song is "Let's Get It Started," which is apparently one of the three tracks on the single. Both versions are definitely my party anthem of the summer... I can't get enough of either of them. Both "Let's Get Retarded" and "Let's Get It Started" are on the re-released copy of Elephunk, so if you enjoy this song, I would strongly suggest picking up Elephunk. It's one of those CD's that you can listen to straight through without having to skip over. Both this single and their album are well worth the money!

The song "Let's Get It Started" is a considerable improvement over it's highly non-PC predecessor "Let's Get Retarded." Ostensibly they figured out their mistake after the first thousand people complained. But hey, now they can make even more money by selling a single that doesn't offend the mentally challenged.

When the Black Eyed Peas say,"Let's Get Retarded", it sounds a little offencive to the mentally challenged. But I honestly dont think that was what they really meant. So thats why I think they changed it to "Lets Get It Started", and also you cant say nor sing the word 'retarded' on a lot of music channels.
