5.0 out of 5 stars I've been waiting 8 years for this!
Man oh man I hope Oleta does not make me wait this long again! I just got done listening to the album and I say this time and time again, unlike most recording artists, Oleta is consistent with her music. 3.0 out of 5 stars Just OK!
I love to hear Oleta Adams sing but this CD was "just OK" to me. All of the songs had such a similar sound, movement, and pace. None of the songs really stood out to me! But I still love her voice!!

I promise you it is totally worth it 5 FREAKING STARS!!!!!! :-D

4.0 out of 5 stars Too Long Gone, April 22, 2009
This review is from: Let's Stay Here (Audio CD)
What a nice surprise to go to iTunes yesterday to find a new Oleta Adams album! It seems like forever since the last one, and while listening to old Adams is still a pleasure, new material is always welcome. To be honest, I'm not crazy about every song (and wish "Don't Explain" weren't a purely instrumental track), but what's good about "Let's Stay Here" is very good indeed. The album kicks off with a solid, soulful rendition of the standard "Feelin' Good," and finds its way to some great feel-good pop tunes (like "Picture You the Way That I Do") and two or three beautiful smooth jazz ballads (of which "No Way to Love Me" is the best). Oleta's voice is as rich and mellow as ever, although at times she goes into a somewhat unsteady head voice that I don't recall her using before; regardless, it's better and stronger than 9/10ths of the voices out there today. So, welcome back, Oleta! I sincerely hope we don't have to wait another 8 years for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great return for Oleta!, May 1, 2009
This review is from: Let's Stay Here (Audio CD)
I have loved Oleta Adams since I heard her with Tears For Fears. This cd is amazing, classic Oleta. The voice has not faltered. The songs and arrangements are faultless. Please check this one out. I'm am so glad to have her back, making this kind of music. Only a few artists are still makings music like this (Anita Baker, Will Downing, Phill Perry, Regina Belle, etc). I love it!!!

This is another great CD by Oleta! Her voice is amazing. Standouts for me are "No Way to Love Me" and "Another Day...". I wish she had vocals on "Don't Explain", but for some reason she chose to go instrumental. I saw her in concert a little while ago and she performed the song a cappella, which was truly something to hear!

Keep up the good work Oleta! Come back to the east coast soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classy Songstress, September 28, 2009

Oleta Adams has been one of my top favorite songstresses. When the CD arrived in the mail, I immediately loaded it in my car stereo to listen to while on a three hour drive. Thanks to Oleta, the drive was bearable. Her smooth melodic sound came through the sound system loud and clear. I listened to every track several times and enjoyed every song, although track 6 is my favorite. No disrespect to other artist, but the quality of her voice along with the music makes this release stand above the common digitally generated and enhanced music of today. If you close your eyes, which I did a few times, you could envision yourself sitting in the club watching Oleta perform live on stage. She demonstrates class and elegance in her music and the "Let's Stay Here" release receives my highest rating. I love this CD...Ten songs are good, but 20 would have been better. Give us more Oleta...GIVE US MORE, PLEASE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back to her roots, September 4, 2009
This review is from: Let's Stay Here (Audio CD)
I love Oleta's new cd, not only because it's maybe her best since her debut album, but because she finally decided to go jazz again. And i love too that she decided to set free her writing skills and write almost all the songs in the album. Normally, her own songs were the best in each album and it was a pity to depend on other songwriters when their songs weren't as good. Thank you very much, Oleta, for sharing your talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars SmoothJazz.com Review, July 2, 2009

Oleta Adams sparkles on her first secular album in eight years, LET"S STAY HERE. With her roots in gospel, her first commercial successes came as the spotlight female voice on Tears for Fears' 1989 release "The Seeds of Love," and her first solo album CIRCLE OF ONE a year later with her distinctive hit cover of Brenda Russell's "Get Here." Whether gospel or pop, she makes covers her own, and her original compositions reflect her mantra, "You want to be the balm for all the hurt and wounded in the world," tackling real issues like relationships, domestic violence, and the vagaries of romance. LET'S STAY HERE glistens with signature Oleta Adams touch and class, from the first single, Nina Simone's "Feelin' Good" (from Broadway's "The Roar of the Greasepaint...") to Billie Holiday's "Don't Explain" to her eight marvelous originals. In a time when we all crave spiritual nourishment, Oleta Adams brings it! ~SCOTT O'BRIEN

5.0 out of 5 stars Show Them How It's Done, June 21, 2009
This review is from: Let's Stay Here (Audio CD)
Thank God for true artist. There are really only a few new female R&B Artist today 'Jill Scott, Tamia, Jennifer Hudson who deserve the fame they have acquired. They rest can take a lesson from Oleta Adam's abilities to shine on every song on this track not just one or two. Each song has a melody that soothes the soul. Welcome back Oleta, thank you for 'ALWAYS' showing them how it's done. I pray you finally get your due recognition. Congratulations!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Top voice in the world, May 20, 2009
This review is from: Let's Stay Here (Audio CD)
I am so pleased when I buy music from Oleta Adams. It reminds me of why record sales are SOOO overated. Oleta simply delivers time after time. I knew when I saw her live back in 1989 that she was the real deal. Guess you figured out I am a true fan of her style and voice. My favs on the Cd are Picture You, Lets stay here, Yesterday, and Art of Forgiveness. She shines throughout the CD but these tracks have it all together. The writing, arr., and performance is super. If you appreciate soul, gospel, jazz and clarity, this is for you. No disrespect to all the overproduced seq tracks out today, but folks gotta know the truth sometime. More money does NOT automatically mean better quality in art. I have not heard many in the class of Oleta Adams in the past 20 years. Correction, she is an all time great voice. Go back and check out her "Evolution" CD. I just hope she NEVER changes and still gets her just due. Maybe she needs a Quincy Jones to produce her so folks in the US can co-sign. I don't know?
