5.0 out of 5 stars A great series, November 3, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been using this series with my Intermediate ESL class for a semester now, and it's the best I've found yet. The students really enjoy the group and pair exercises. The student books come with their own Cd's with many of the class listening exercises included. The students that use their Cd's have really improved their English, and are the first to answer questions in class, although all students are learning. The listening exercises on the Class CD are good, but incredibly long. I always play each exercise three times (one for listening only, one for answering the questions, and one for reviewing the answers) and that can easily take 15 or 20 minutes. The listening exercises are spoken quickly and are scripted in the way we Americans talk, with a lot of "you know" and "uhhh..." and restating and correcting something said. I like that because the students really have to pay attention. The scripts are interesting and the questions that pertain to the listening exercises are quite good. The students really enjoy this series, and this is the first year that I have lost no students since the beginning of class. (Usually I lose students due to boredom with the series or because they feel they are not being challenged by the series enough.) I always get lots of thank-yous from my students after class, and though I would like to take all the credit for their enjoying the class, I am sure this series has a lot to do with it. I'm really pleased with this series and plan on using it again in the future.
