In this program, Mister Rogers visits the triage, X-ray and suture areas and the waiting room of an emergency department of a hospital. He introduces his young viewers to doctors and nurses who work there and, with their help, shows and explains some of the common procedures and equipment. For example, in the triage area, a nurse conducts a simple examination of a young child, checking her blood pressure, temperature and weight; a pediatrician explains to Mister Rogers the different ways cuts are cared for, showing him cleaning materials, sutures, a syringe and a papoose board; and in the waiting room, Mister Rogers talks about the reasons why children and adults often have to wait to be treated. This program is particulary well suited for use in hospital tours, community education, churches and synagogues, day care centers and pediatrician's offices, in addition to emergency departments.
