5.0 out of 5 stars Lagwagon's poppiest album yet... but damn, is it good!
Lagwagon is one of those bands you either love or hate. Many new-school fans love them since they seem to have the mixture of punk and melody down pat. Then you have some old-schoolers, who mainly see Lagwagon as the biggest NOFX rip-off band ever, and that musically, they're stale.

Of course, the second view is utter BS. This was by far Lagwagon's most poppy album...

This album isn't the best, and it isn't the worst. If you like catchy punk, try the frist two Lagwagon albums "Duh" and "Trashed" , "Hoss" their third album, was the border from which the band produced briliance and setteled for this weak trash. My advise save you money

This was by far Lagwagon's most poppy album yet. Since it was produced by Mark Trombino, it has a compressed, polished sound. The most startling change is most likely in Joey Cape's voice. In every album before this one, Joey's had a great, but yet slightly dissonant voice. He's 33 in this album, but he sounds 20. Talk about processing. Compare DP's "Making Friends" to LTAF's "Gun In Your Hand" and you'll see what I mean.

Now on to the album. This album combines pretty much all of the good qualities from Lag's past albums - the speed of Duh, the riffs of Trashed, the perfect mix of pop and punk with Hoss, and the down-to-earth sound and songwriting style of Double Plaidinum. It really is such a wonderful mix and makes you wonder how a typical pop-punk band got so freaking GOOD at what they do.

Lagwagon, from day one, always sounded a bit like NOFX with their sound. But after Hoss and especially Double Plaidinum, they've really gotten their own unique sound. Lagwagon's sound is less like the fast-paced NOFX-type punk rock of Trashed and Duh, and more like the pop-punk of Hoss. Whereas Fat Mike goes for sarcastic, witty, often-joking lyrics, Joey Cape will, most of the time, sing about mostly-serious topics (which is why "Hurry Up And Wait" is such a cool little song).

The album clocks in at about 25 minutes, which is quite short compared to some of their past albums. The thing is, there's so many great songs here it makes up for it. Just about every song on this album is awesome. The best songs are "After You My Friend", "Leave The Light On", "Love Story", "May 16" (of Tony Hawk 2 fame), and "Owen Meaney" (Cape stated that this is his favorite Lagwagon song). So the verdict? It's not the best Lagwagon album IMHO, but it's certainly damn close.

I don't know why other people don't like this CD. It's really awesome with great guitars and great lyrics. I especially love "Everything Turns Grey" and "Leave the Light On." But I love all the songs. They're great and you should buy this CD if you're at all into punk music!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the Definitive Melodic Punk album, June 1, 2003

If you are into the whole fat wreck chords genre of music , this album is a must have. Every song is a melodic pop punk explosion full of lightning fast drum lines and stops as clean as they come. The precision lead guitar work is complemented by timely vocals that actually say something ! Lagwagon wasn't always as tight as they are on this album, but this is the best display of their raw talent to date. What happened to these guys? I took them for granted when they were on "the scene" but looking back they have great music that doesn't lose its power when the drumlines approach breakneck speed.

4.0 out of 5 stars gooses review, June 12, 2005

The feelings cd is a good cd in general. The songs on the cd stick more or less to the same theme. The highest quality song on the cd is "love story" followed by "after you my friend", "train", "may 16", and "messengers". If you really like lagwagon then gun in your hand and leave the light on are good as well. The artwork on both the cd and cover for the cd are humorus especially in comparison with the boring cover on double plaidinum. This cd does seem to be on a different line of thought than lagwagons other albums but it is still good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lagwagon has become the definition of melodic punk, April 10, 2003

Lagwagon has been around for a while now, and their sound seems to change with every CD they release. This time, however, they've hit upon a style that defines Cali-punk in every way, with Joey's melodic voice, meaningful lyrics, and fast paced rhythms. This CD starts off fast, and never lets down! Songs like "may 16th" are a classic, and are known by everyone in the punk scene.
Lagwagon has become a driving force in punk music. This CD represents exactly what punk music should be and is a must have for any fan of the genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can it get any better?, August 11, 2002

This could have been Lagwagon's best album...but IT'S WAY TOO SHORT! I was just begging for more after the cd ended and clocked in at a whopping 25:25. But while it lasts, Let's Talk About Feelings is really one of the best cds you can buy if you like any type of punk music at all. The lyrics are great, Joey Cape's vocals are him at his best, and the band's sound is really something to behold. This band just gets better and better with each album...the stand-outs here are "Gun In Your Hand", "Hurry Up and Wait", "Messengers", "Owen Meaney" and the ever-popular "May 16".

5.0 out of 5 stars another great one, June 18, 2001

Santa Barbara's pride and joy, LAGWAGON, plays an infectious blend of pop and hardcore, lyrically tackling an array of personal politics. This punky quintet has secured a massive worldwide following with their four FAT full lengths and a touring schedule that would make the Stones blush.

So, this is another magnificent album by one of the best bands around. Only 12 songs this time, but surely worth your money. In typical Lagwagon style, it takes you about 3 times listening before really loving those songs. You just have to take a little bit of time to let these songs remind you why you like melodic punk music.
