This review is from: Let's Talk About It: Stepfamilies (Paperback)
The photos in this book are hopelessly dated but the message is timeless -- becoming a stepfamily can be very challenging for kids. A lot of the photos show kids feeling mad, sad, resentful -- a good stepping off point for kids to discuss their own feelings. Mr. Rogers, as always, encourages kids to share their feelings to their parents and stepparents ("nobody can guess what you are thinking") -- and offers constructive solutions for them to express their own feelings through art, music, and sports. Mr. Rogers also focuses on the fun of having new stepsiblings and new family members, so the end note is very positive without being in the least saccharine. Highly recommend.
