My favorite of all of Joanie's albums!!,

This review is from: Let's Talk About Love (Audio CD)
I'm happy that this album (released in 1962) finally made it to CD (I own the LP version)...this is one of my personal favorites among Joanie's albums, thanks in large part to Tommy Oliver's swinging big band charts!

Joanie Sommers always sang exquisitely; and this album proves she had the vocal chops to do it! Joanie has a tremendous command of her repertoire here and that's grand. The sound quality is excellent, too.
"Let's Talk about Love" is a dynamic number with Joanie handling tempo and key modulations like the pro she always was and still remains! "Spring Is Here" switches gears for a slower paced ballad; Joanie makes this so elegant with her very sensitive delivery. The brass is used to great advantage on "Spring Is Here," too. "I'm Nobody's Baby" gets a royal treatment from Joanie who delivers this without letting go of a single superfluous note; I'm impressed. "Something's Coming" from "West Side Story" stuns me; Joanie does this with panache and it all holds its own very well. That big band/jazzy styled musical arrangement enhances the ballad all the more. "Make the Man Love Me" charms me with its beauty; Joanie makes this shine with a beautiful delivery and it's one of my favorite songs on the CD. In addition, "I Can't Believe That You're In Love with Me" again has Joanie singing at her usual very best; and I love every minute of it! This music is all THAT good. "'Til There Was You" has a jazzy interpretation by Joanie and her fans should really enjoy this track. "After the Lights Go Down Low" is most romantic; and listen for yet another gem when Joanie Sommers does "There's No Such Thing." Joanie never sounded better. "Namely You" is another gorgeous number that Joanie makes so very special; and "Kiss and You" is another winning tune. The album then ends with Joanie Sommers performing "I'll Never Stop Loving You." This is a particularly beautiful song; and it leaves me wanting so much more! Fans of Joanie Sommers should add this to their collections; it's terrific that this LP of hers was re-released on CD for us all to enjoy. Moreover, people just discovering Joanie's wonderful artistry would do well to get this CD--they won't be disappointed!

a little funky but still cool!!!,
By Anna Liza Bellgert (Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Let's Talk About Love (Audio CD)
Joannie Sommers possesses a bell like voice with clarity, and this little mama knows how to swing!!! And she swings hard! she would have made a great big band singer, however this was the 60's when this was originally out on lp, and Sommers was a mere teenager, who fully inderstands the meanign of each song and lyric. A great cd, she sounds enthusiastic and she's a cutie too! Some of teh arrangements can't help but sound like the early 60's, though in general they swing, and are very jazz, but in spots are slightly loungy and dated, however that doesn't detract this from being the best lp, by any new jazz singer from the 60's(with the acception of Sheial Jordan, portrait of...). Buy it, you'l llike it if you like creativity and slight improviation in your singers, and her vocie is so appealing and sweet'n'swingin'!!!
