A real banquet of star singers and producers,
By Andrew (Romania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Let's Talk About Love (Audio CD)
This last entire english new material album from Celine Dion shows a more mature side of her talent, and proves that the succes of "Falling Into You" was not a passer-by one but instead the entrance to the Diva-world. "Let's Talk About Love" is by far the best album modern pop has ever produced during the past 20 years to say the least. There are simply too much stars involved in the recording of this album. There are practically no mistakes and there is a great coherence and cohesion between all of the tracks. No way this could ever be boring simply because it has a great diversity, starting with the common excellent well produced diva-pop and ending with a hip-hop cover and one or two extremely danceable songs. The album begins with "The Reason", a top vocal track which features the help of role model Carole King. On the following track The Bee Gees appear both as songwriters and as fellow singers turning "Immortality" into and very emotional and romantic song. On her hip-hop effort, Celine is being hepled by jamaican Diana King and Brownstone treesome. In fact, this one is a cover of Diana's 1995 "Treat her like a lady". "Tell Him" is the star duet on this album,Ms Dion teenage years' inspiration Barbra Streisand, having an important role in the succes of the song. It is overproduces, nevertheless tiresome. Still it is simple and clear, making it one of the most enjoyable musical experiences ever. There's also another beautiful cover on the album, "When I Need You", which goes on great with Celine's voice. The last duet is with classical singer Luciano Pavarotti turning on a more serious side of pop music, a more classical one. On top of that the famous producer George Martin (Beatles) helps on "The Reason", Walter Afanasieff and David Foster on "Tell Him" and several other tracks plus production work from music giants such as Rick Wake (previously worked on "The Colour..."), Corey Hart, Jim Steinman, Brian Adams, Jean-Jaques Goldman etc. There is also a spanish track on some non US editions "Amar Haciendo el Amor" on which Celine shows she has no problems with her fifth singing language. This is the work of Emilio Estefan Jr. But what surely made this album so important is the Titanic theme which needs no description. Next to those songs there are some great romantic tracks such as "Where Is The Love" and the title track. Inspite of the cliche phrase this really is a masterpiece album which fits in any respectable CD collection. In fact you cannot say you know music unless you've tasted this one aswell. All i have to say now is "Enjoy it!" because i know you will.

Let's Talk About "Let's Talk About Love",

This is one of Celne's best album. Collaborating with some of the biggest and best names in the music business including: her long-time idol Barbara Streisand (for their spectacular, over-the-top duet "Tell Him"), the Bee Gees (on "Immortality")Carole King and Sir George Martin (who co-wrote "The Reason")and Lucianno Pavarotti (for their duet "I Hate You Then I Love You"). The album was vaulted to the top of the charts back in 1998 by the ubiquitous Titanic theme "My Heart Will Go On." Other outstanding tracks include David Foster's gorgeous masterpiece "To Love You More," the emotional title track, the powerful, poignant "Us," beautiful "Miles To Go Before I Sleep," and Celine's pseudo hip-hop song "Treat Her Like A Lady," (featuring Diana King.) While there are a couple of weak tracks, and the aforementioned duet with Pavarotti suffers from mediocre songwriting, all in all, it is an excellent adult contemporary pop album.

This Is A Total Package,

Celine Dion's 1997 release LETS TALK ABOUT LOVE embraces you in a message of love. The album contains soft ballads, rock, movie themes, duets, and opera. The one song that hits me the most and has become my best favorite from the album is Track 14-TO LOVE YOU MORE. A passionate ballad with a very elegant violin opening, the song sorts of like a response to BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME in the previous release. The producers of this album (Vito Luprano and John Doelp) have saved the best for last in the album. Track 15-LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE is sort of like the kind of song you'll hear in Olympics closing, like AMIGOS POR SIMPRE (Barcelona Games 1992). Celine is joined by a children choir in this heart-warming piece. Track 13-I HATE YOU THEN I LOVE YOU (duet with Luciano Pavarotti) will share the merit with LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE as my second favorite from the album. It's a beautiful opera song. As Celine has noted, Luciano is the greatest tenor in the world and she had been secretly hoping to sing a love song with him. Speaking of popularity, everyone will agree that Track 12-MY HEAR WILL GO ON (theme from Titanic) is the most popular piece in this album. James Horner had do an incredible job on the music score for the film. The music is stunning, breathtaking, and heart-pounding. Cameron (Titanic director) originally did not want to have a vocal theme but instrmentals. After listening to Celine's demo of MY HEART WILL GO ON, Cameron adopted the song as the movie theme. The movie version (as recorded on the Titanic soundtrack) is slightly different. The arrangement is better in this version recorded in Celine's album. The very last four songs, Tracks 12, 13, 14, and 15 are my personal picks and have made the album worth to buy. The album, however, has some other jewels. Track 07-WHERE IS THE LOVE and Track 08-WHEN I NEED YOU go hand in hand as a pair of beautiful love soft ballads. Track 08-WHEN I NEED YOU Celine sings with a very soft voice. The song would make a nice Kareoke choice. Track 06-TELL HIM (duet with Barbara Streisand) is a very beautiful ballad again. What can I say about two divas coming together and perform a timeless classic? The twin opening cuts Track 01-THE REASON and Track 02-IMMORTALITY have some good tunes but are nothing compared to Track 14-TO LOVE YOU MORE and Track 15-LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE. Track 03-TREAT HER LIKE A BABY is a nice twist from the rest of the album-it is a cute and fun song. I only own two Celine Dion's CDs: FALLING INTO YOU and the current one being reviewed. But I can honestly say that I love both albums. They consistently make their presence back to my CD player. Let the music pulsate in your mind...

Only a genius can provoke such love and such hate...,

...and nothing proves the point more than listening to this brilliant album and then reading the 200-plus reviews found here. Celine's voice is truly distinctive, incredibly wide-ranging in pitch and style -- and guaranteed to make you love her or (God help you) hate her as an artist.Yes, this album is "commercial" -- but it's the very opposite of heartless. Yes, it's slickly produced -- but what's wrong with perfection in arrangement and performance? Yes, she pulls in a lot of big names on this album -- but isn't she humble in their presence and amazed to call them friends? Yes, Celine is first and last a singer -- but since when does that make an artist lack integrity? Yes, I think some of the songs on the album aren't worth singing by Celine or anybody else; we don't need more bad attitudes in the world. (That's the only reason I gave this album 4 stars.) Should that detract from the many really excellent tracks, like my personal favorites (the remake of "When I Need You", "My Heart Will Go On", and "To Love You More")? That's what programming on CD players is for: to let one pick what he likes to hear... Celine, don't let your detractors get you down. Just keep on keeping on and (if you have to) cry all the way to the bank.

Let's Talk About Lovely Celine,

If you thought she could not get any higher, well here she comes again to prove you wrong. After that FALLING INTO YOU earned all possible awards and prizes, this one will leave you breathless if only due to the amazing list of guest stars partcipating into this project. As usual Celine leaves it in the hands of Foster, Afanasieff and Wake (love his dance production on JUST A LITTLE BIT OF LOVE) as main producers. But this time around she's added something extra: and the little extra is Barbra Streisand (TELL HIM is the duet that i had been dreaming forever...), Luciano Pavarotti (hey, i'm italian...let's admit it, this duet is a joke: her voice just don't blend with his and he will never ever be a pop singer...). She has a better way with The Bee Gees on IMMORTALITY, or even featuring raggae # 1 lady Diana King on TREAT HER LIKE A LADY. Point is, she just don't stop at guest vocalists: Carole KIng co-wrote THE REASON, which was produced by legendary Sir George Martin. Both Bryan Adams and Jean Jacques Goldman collaborate on the titletrack. And let's not forget this album contains what by now is considered by most Celine's signature song, MY HEART WILL GO ON from the TITANIC soundtrack. I know some 3 songs written by Diane Warren, Jim Steinman and Rick Nowels did not make the final track list, but even so...this album is worth buying. Especially if you are a Cory Hart fan: 2 beautiful songs written by the man himself are included...finally he's getting some due recognition in the arena! Her class and voice will move you to no end.

Her most artistic to date of her albums,
By Preston (nc) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Let's Talk About Love (Audio CD)
I still this that Celine Dion's Let's Talk About Love was her most artistic and stylistic album to date. She took more chances with stretching her voice on different songs. I still like the funky Treat Her Like a Lady, where Celine really tears it up on a faster song! It just got her off the ballad overkill a bit, the way Misled did on her '93 album. But I love songs like the P Diddy-beats-sounding Why oh Why, Immortality, the darker songs Miles To Go and Us, and To Love You More. Tell Him with Barbara Streisand--true diva event as if there was one! Both singers sound beautiful on here. I like her I Hate You then I Love You with Pavarotti. Her songs that Corey "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night" Hart produced are very good. So I'll save this part for last--her "My Heart Will Go On" is easily her best sung song of her career--the drama, emotion and range that she brings to it makes it one of the best '90s pop records. While some people don't like it, you have to admit that it is a beautiful power ballad in the greatest sense. In conclusion, a very artistic and well done pop album from Celine with all that incredible talent involved on it.

Spectacular Album,

Lets Talk About Love, hot off the heels of her 1996 album Falling Into You, continues to prove that Celine is one of the greatest singers in the 90's. Filled with guest artists such as Carol King, Bee Gees, Luchiano Pavorotti, Barbra Streisand and more. This album, mostly ballad driven, is one of her best recordings. My favorite track is the mega ballad duet with Barbra Streisand called Tell Him. This is to me the strongest of the tracks. It was genius to have them sing together, as they are spectacular artists and they work well together. Another favorite is the ballad titled Us, a very powerful song in which Dion delivers the goods. Other strong tracks include Lets Talk About Love, Where Is The Love, The Reason (with Carol King), Immortality (with Bee Gees), Miles To Go (Before I Sleep), and many others. The only tracks I dont really care for are I Hate You Then I Love You and Amar Haciendo El Amor (I have the Canadian copy which replaces Amar Haciendo El Amor with To Love You More). Overall this is an excellent album and I highly reccomend it.

Let's Talk About Celine,

This review is from: Let's Talk About Love (Audio CD)
After listening to this CD, I concluded Mrs. Dion is the best female vocalist of our time. Her voice is beautiful and powerful, and she doesn't squeal like Mariah Carey. How I wish I could sing like Celine! But anyway, the album itself. Every song is good, some are just better or more schmaltzy than others. Some excellent tracks are "The Reason", "Immortality", "Tell Him", "When I Need You", and "Miles to go Before I Sleep". The absolute best ones are "My Heart Will go On"(of course) and "To Love You More". Talk about power ballads! Who couldn't identify with them? They're almost too gorgeous for words! The former has that whispery quality and the whistle music. The latter bleeds longing. I highly reccomend this CD. I'll definitely her new one ASAP!

Between her voice, her music, and the feeling she puts into each song she sings I can't help but listen to this CD at least two or three times a day. I have always been a fan, but I think this is one of her best!
