Very easy to understand.

We read it together, when I read the sections referring to age I just read, 9-20 year olds.

I bought this after my 9-year-old and I had to begun discussing sex, body changes, self-esteem issues, etc. I would never hand a kid a book as a total strategy for sex education, but this book has been wonderful to augment the discussions we've had and allows my daughter to have some control over the whole process. She grabs it and reads it when she wants to learn more but doesn't feel like asking me, or just wants some private time. I also like that it's written for her age group - quite a few of the books I researched were at too sophisticated a learning/content level for her. Overall, I'm really pleased with this choice.

This book addresses a very wide variety of subjects that are important to share with your changing child. Not too much information for them to take in and it is written in a positive way that encourages children to share their concerns and thoughts with their parents.

The BEST book ever if you want to talk to your kids about sex. All you have to do is read! Don't let the Planned Parenthood label scare you away (conservative folk) they don't endorse prostitution or abortions. All about INFORMATION and let me tell you -- states that teach abstinence only education have some of the highest teen pregnancy rates around.

This book -- discourages teen pregnancy by giving facts! Kids are smarter than you think and trying to snow them with just don't do it -- clearly doesn't work. They do it! Of course, not all of them.

This book leads children in the direction that sex is a big deal, not something to play around with (although it feels great in the right relationship)

This also gives great info on puberty too!

This is a great book for disabled teen to adults over the recommended age group (9-12). I am using this with a 20 year old young man with Autism. We read it together, when I read the sections referring to age I just read, 9-20 year olds. It is a comfortable no nonsense approach that he seems to understand and appreciate. Since he does not ask questions it is difficult to know what he understands or already knows, but he seems relieved to hear this information, and willingly listens during our sessions, so I believe we have hit on information he was hoping for.

Started reading this book with my 9 y/o daughter, and I have to say... waaaaay too graphic on their descriptions for ANY 9 year old child. Personally, I will read/use this book in the future, but not for a few more years, probably starting at 12, I guess it really depends on how "innocent" the targeted child is.
It is an excellent informative book, dont get discourage by my silly review, but be sure to read the book yourself (an adult) before allowing the minor to take a peek.

Cheers :)

I purchased this book for my 10 year old son as a basis for discussion for 'the talk'. I found the information provided therein deficient in several categories. There are actually only a couple pages that are devoted to any kind of description or explanation of the sex act itself, and those are non-illustrated and very shallow. The book is much more geared to describing male and female changes during puberty and of course, as a publication of Planned Parenthood, spends considerable time on contraception, STDs, and other topics which are not perhaps reflected in the book's misleading title. I would have returned the book but the return shipping fee would not have justified that process as it would have been more than one-half the cost of the book itself. I would recommend against this book for any purpose.

I ordered this book to have "the talk" with my daughter. Some parts were WAY over her head at the age of 9, but it's good because it talks about changes in the body and what she might be feeling. It's got a section for males and females, so we obviously skipped the male part for the time being. We will go back and review in a year or so, but do not recommend for under the age of 9.
