5.0 out of 5 stars Very Moving...An amazing story!
Dian and Mark Button have written an extremely rewarding story.

The most amazing part is that it is true!

I believe books, like people, can come into our lives at certain times for a reason. This is a book that showed up and changed my life. It is a story that is as good as any intensely romantic novel. And.... the book offers a path that can change your life, and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not always what you think
Yes, I read this book when it was first published and thought what a wonderful story. With some brilliant editing and highly tuned selective memories the Buttons have indeed created an unparalled love story. However, I know the Buttons and know that what you read isn't exactly the whole story. The Buttons are extremely selective in their collective experiences, the...

Dian and Mark Button have written an extremely rewarding story.

The most amazing part is that it is true!

I believe books, like people, can come into our lives at certain times for a reason. This is a book that showed up and changed my life. It is a story that is as good as any intensely romantic novel. And.... the book offers a path that can change your life, and the lives of your ancestors, for generations to come.

Page by page, Diane and Mark share a story that is a keen, honest observation of their struggles, pain, joys and humanity. Although I read it in one sitting, it is a journey worth savoring because the final destination is worth it. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Letter Box, September 16, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Letter Box: A Story of Enduring Love (Hardcover)
This is an exceptional love story. It's like the Bridges of Madison County, only better because this story is true. And it tells us a process that can affect and change those lives around us. By writing letters and telling the ones we loves the importance of their lives in ours, we are creating bonds and memories that will last for generations. I can't wait to start doing this with my own daughter.

Picked up an autographed copy of this book for Mom for Christmas. I was bored later that day and started reading it and couldn't put it down. I cried and smiled and in the end, was inspired to create my own letter boxes for my loved ones. Get this book!

I teared when I read parts of the book, but it is such an awesome book! I didn't want to put that book down until I was completely finished reading it. I definetely recommend it to anyone with children. I loved it, and I plan on keeping up with my letter box to my son.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wrenching story of love beyond death, May 15, 2003
This review is from: The Letter Box: A Story of Enduring Love (Hardcover)
Mark and his wife wanted a family for years and were filled with joy upon discovering they were expecting triplets - but when the dream was ruined, Mark faced an empty future. His container for collecting thoughts and feelings became gifts which included his friends and anyone who knew him. The Letter Box is a wrenching story of love beyond death and the recovery process, and is a highly recommended pick.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Letter Box, September 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Letter Box: A Story of Enduring Love (Hardcover)
What an amazing gift this book is to us all, especially as our country navigates our own recent tragedies and has remebered the importance of family connections. This gripping true story made me laugh and cry (in a public place I might add!)and underscored what a cherished testament of love a letter could be for my children, family members, and loved ones. This book is inspirational, honest, gut wrenching, and thought provoking.... a must read for all, or a great gift idea for the holidays!

Yes, I read this book when it was first published and thought what a wonderful story. With some brilliant editing and highly tuned selective memories the Buttons have indeed created an unparalled love story. However, I know the Buttons and know that what you read isn't exactly the whole story. The Buttons are extremely selective in their collective experiences, the sharing and dispensing of love with family and friends, and think nothing of flattening others personal feelings along the way. Their inner social circle places them on such an elevated status that one cannot, nor should not disagree with the Buttons. With all this said, I have found a perfect use for this book, it makes for a good door stop.
