I read this book years ago and have never forgotten it.
It's about a professional woman with an unexpected and difficult pregnancy. Her conversations with her unborn child are touching.
I don't want to spoil it for you so I'll leave it at that.
I enjoyed it thoroughly, and am disappointed to see that it's out of print.

Oriana Fallaci is often labeled 'feminist', but as also this writing proves it, she is instead an honest, open, sometimes daringly self-assertive, other times painfully vulnerable and exposed, but always true to herself woman and a writer. There is not even a shred of pretense or hidden agenda behind her words. Right or wrong for you or the masses, it doesn't matter, she doesn't care. She puts it as she sees it or as she feels it.
Her philosophical reasonings are crisp clear, yet femininly emotional and soft. "Letter to an unborn child" (I believe that is or should be the correct translation of the title) is a profound coming of age book and a sophisticated comment on womanhood and motherhood. Fallaci is open and honest about her selfdoubt and even fears, yet she is unapologetic about her feelings and absolutely fearless in opening up her soul and putting it down on paper. It is an inspiring and enriching book whether you are 18, 40 or 80; whether you are a woman discovering or doubting yourself or a person investigating the most basic philosophical questions of life and it's meaning.
"Letter to an unborn child" is a beautifully written and masterfully crafted book that defies genre. It is a poetic prose and a philosophy book that is suspenseful and keeps you guessing to the end. It is a must read for all ages and sexes.

English is not my native language so please forgive the mistakes. I could not wait to post a review after I saw the negative comment of the "unbiased" reviewer" who admits has not even read the book.
