Subtle Gem From The Vast Campbell Catalog,
By Boomertunes (Illinois USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Letter to Home (Audio CD)
Possessed with one of the most expressive voices in popular music and an underappreciated guitar prowess, Glen Campbell has produced a vast body of work that consistently delivers in quality and substance.
This CD reissue of a 1984 Atlantic LP release features three country hits: J.D. Souther's "Faithless Love"(#10); the passionate "A Lady Like You"(#4); and the folky/reflective "(Love Always)Letter to Home"(#14). These are prime Campbell singles-well written compositions with soaring vocals and classy production. Highlights among the other selections are a guitar driven "Leavin' Eyes", a moving "I'll Be Faithful To You", and a perfect interpretation of Stevie Nicks' "After The Glitter Fades". Although not on the level of releases like "Reunion (with Jimmy Webb)" or "Light Years", this is a solid entry in the Glen Campbell catalog.

Fits into today's situation.,

This review is from: Letter to Home (Audio CD)
The title track involves someone who is away from home and has to deal with a situation. With the current international activity, this song is most proper. I suggest buying the album and then sending a dub to the US Troops in Afghanistan. "Love Always (Letters to Home)"...a great song to share. The original radio release in '85 had a six-string sound. The album cut has a definate 12-string guitar sound. Ain't remixing grand? In a short sentence?...a good buy. Enjoy.
