Book Description

Montana Mavericks February 9, 2010

A mail-order bride and...her kid brother?

The ad said rancher Rand Harding--a real, live cowboy!--wanted a wife. So orphaned city kid Mack Paxton began planning. He'd pen a gushy letter. Enclose a pin-up picture. Forge his big sister's signature. And presto! Mack would have it nailed: a mail-order marriage for Suzanne and a happily-ever-after home on the range.

Trouble was, Mack's mischief caused surprising friction between rugged Rand and stubborn Suzanne. So Mack aimed to fan those flames and start the home fires burning!

Amazon.com Review

Suzanne Paxton is out of work and at her wit's end. Just when she thinks life can't get any worse, her younger brother answers an ad from a Montana rancher who's looking for a wife. When Suzanne refuses to cooperate, her little brother leaves for Montana on his own, forcing her to follow.

Rand Harding wants a wife who doesn't need love, but his heart doesn't listen after he meets Suzanne. Suzanne isn't looking for love either, but the blizzard that traps her in the same house with Rand gives them time to explore the unexpected passion that blazes between them. But there are mysterious happenings on the Kincaid Ranch: someone is killing cattle, and a case of dynamite is missing. Will Rand solve the puzzle and keep Suzanne and her brother safe, or will tragedy drive the lovers apart? Fans of the popular Montana Mavericks series will be delighted with this story set in Whitehorn, Montana. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

3.0 out of 5 stars What happened??, August 21, 2011
This review is from: Letter to a Lonesome Cowboy (Montana Mavericks) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ok, so in between reading true crime - I like to sit back with something that is easy on the mind. Lonesome Cowboy was just that however, there was no resolution to a big part of the story. Fourteen year old Mack Paxton answers a looking for love ad from handsome cowboy Rand Harding, pretending to be his 24 year old sister Suzanne. Then the troubled Mack runs off to Montana to work for Rand. Now Suzanne goes off to Montana to bring Mack back to Baltimore. But after seeing the handsome cowboy, sparks fly. While all this was going on someone is trying to sabotage the Kincaid ranch, but who? We never find out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Storyline, July 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Author had a great storyline and could have expanded it somewhat. Romance scenes and details of ranch life were great. Along the line there is a mystery causing destruction of property and death to animals. Part of the mystery is dealing with a potential explosion caused by dynamite. While the story is great, the person causing the problems is never discovered. The shadow of the person is written about as he stalks the ranch making problems but where is the "end" of it. Is there another book? The reason for the 3 stars is that the book is not finished. Enjoyed what was written and would read another book by Jackie Merritt but would hope there is a conclusion.
