5.0 out of 5 stars Hermeneutic of Continuity Ties It Together, January 22, 2008

This review is from: Letter & Spirit, Vol. 3: The Hermeneutic of Continuity: Christ, Kingdom, and Creation (Letter & Spirit: A Journal of Catholic Biblical Theology) (Paperback)
The Hermeneutic of Continuity provides that backdrop to the study of Christ, the Church and the Kingdom, which helps integrate much of the faith content and felt-reality that is "there" but not as clearly articulated, as Scott Hahn does. Excellent reading.
Fr. Bill Ryan, OSA

5.0 out of 5 stars Continuity of Teaching, August 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Letter & Spirit, Vol. 3: The Hermeneutic of Continuity: Christ, Kingdom, and Creation (Letter & Spirit: A Journal of Catholic Biblical Theology) (Paperback)
In this third volume of the Letter & Spirit Journal, several theological minds tackle the task of defining the importance of continuity in approaching the study of Christ, His kingdom, and creation. Logical consistency is marked by continuity of thought through subjects that may seem unrelated on the surface. But through these short papers we are reminded of the threads of continuity that bring the Church's teaching together as a logical, consistent, continuous whole.

Two articles in this volume make it worth the purchase in themselves - Dr. Hahn's exposition of Davidic kingdom images in Luke's gospel and Acts, and in Dr. Ratzinger's (Pope Benedict XVI) theses on Christology. But all the other articles are potent in content and depth of thought. Some have depths that can only be plumbed through multiple readings but the fruit of such effort is well worth the careful and thoughtful study.
