4.0 out of 5 stars Long winded but interesting whodunnit, September 23, 2010
This review is from: Six Letter Word for Death (Paperback)
Henry Tibbett has obviously solved many homicides in his time, but this is the first time I have read about his genius. After discovering Patricia Moyes clever plotting and characterizations, I will certainly be checking out the further adventures of this clever British Chief Superintendent of Scotland Yard and his charming wife Emmy.

This story starts out with the aforementioned Chief Tibbett receiving a clever crossword to be filled in with some unusual clues, so he turns to his friend the Bishop (a clever crossword fanatic) for help.

The answers to the clues lead to a meeting with some mystery writers who are obsessed with their subject - Murder. One needs to pay attention to characters because some can be confusing even though they are a very interesting group. Murder (or was it?) long past and not so long ago are wrapped up nicely with help from wife Emmy.

This novel is a little padded and long but you are rewarded with a stupendous double ending and extremely clever denouement.

Not recommended for British Mystery lovers only, but for those who like their mysteries sophisticated and smooth.
