Mostly slow sipping acoustic blues,
This review is from: Letterbox (MP3 Download)
"Letterbox" is Drew Gibson's debut CD. He's a Virginia native who can roll out the slow blues with the best of them. He's got a soft, husky voice that has you chilled out through most of the cuts. The instrumentation is spare and simple which is good.
It's hard to pick a favorite from these selections. "Blue Shirt" talks about the pleasure of the simple things. "Music Chair" is one of the most uptempo songs, which reminds me a lot of Dave Matthews without the sax. The rolling guitar on this particular selection just sparkles. "Wishing you well" is a great choice for the closer on this CD. It's a soulful benediction from a collection of quiet music that's just plain "all things good." Rebecca Kyle, June 2008
