Good effort, but not co-ordinated with the German Letters,

Complements the translations into English of Beethoven's letters by Anderson (1961); however, many wordings are questionable, especially in the translations of the letters by Josephine to Beethoven (they are also often dated incorrectly). (But see Beethoven's Only Beloved: Josephine!: A Biography of the Only Woman Beethoven ever Loved)It is a shame that this edition was not co-ordinated with the German edition of Beethoven's correspondence; the many discrepancies are annoying. |
