Book Description

January 1, 1983
Written from Roman North Africa, primarily between 250 and 258, and meant to be circulated and copied, the four volumes of letters provide an entrée into Cyprian's social and mental world and a glimpse of some of the spiritual horizons of an articulate mid-third century provincial Roman. The first volume contains letters from the year 250.

4.0 out of 5 stars too much notes, March 13, 2011

This review is from: 43. The Letters of St. Cyprian Vol.1 (Ancient Christian Writers) (Hardcover)
These books are very good, easy to read, and St. Cyprian is one of the best writers of ancient christianity. The problem with this particular edition is that the books are 2/3 notes and 1/3 letters. I don't think that's necessary for the average reader. If you want to know all about the letters of St. Cyprian, these books are perfect. For me, one single volume with less notes would be better.
