Book Description

November 23, 2009
Letters to Darcy originated as a blog, written by a young woman from Texas named Tracy Ramos. The blog was comprised of a series of diary entries that Tracy wrote to her unborn daughter, Darcy, over the course of approximately nine months. Early in her pregnancy, Tracy learned Darcy had a rare, terminal genetic condition known as Trisomy 18. Of people diagnosed with this disorder, about 95% die in utero, and for surviving infants who live to term, less than 10% survive their first year of life. Tracy’s response to her unborn daughter Darcy is an incredible testament to the sanctity of human life. You will walk with Tracy and Darcy through each entry and see how lovingly mom Tracy cares for her unborn child. Through her simple, honest, and intensely personal entries, Tracy beautifully and convincingly answers the question: When does life begin?

More About the Author

I am a stay-at-home mother and home educator. I live in Magnolia, Texas, along with Jason, my husband of 20 years, and seven beautiful children. Darcy, my ninth, has reunited with the Lord along with two other siblings.

My life and passion are my family. I love spending any kind of time with them. I enjoy playing games and sports, watching movies, working out, and riding my bicycle and Kawasaki Ninja with Jason. I am especially excited to share my book with everyone I meet. I have received countless stories about how Darcy's life has impacted others. My prayer is that many would receive Christ as Savior by realizing how real He truly is. God has already impacted countless lives and relationships through Darcy and I love reading stories about them.

I absolutely love my life. Thank you, Lord!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful little Gem, January 16, 2010
This review is from: Letters to Darcy (Hardcover)
This is a heart wrenching story about a pregnant mother who found out that her unborn child had Trisomy 18 and was told to abort the baby by her doctors. She chose not to and the book that follows are her diary entries written to her unborn child. This is a wonderful book about determination, spirit, hope, despair, depression, beauty, grace, and love. God gives us our challenges to overcome them and become better people and this is a book about how one woman did just that. The loss of a child is sometimes unbearable. You just have to remember that God is always with you every step of the way and he is there to help you through all trials and tribulations. I received this book free from FIRST Wild Card Tours and Special thanks to Maggie Rowe of Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. for sending me a review copy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heart-breaking look at the life and death of a child, January 15, 2010
This review is from: Letters to Darcy (Hardcover)
Letters to Darcy by Tracy Ramos is a heart-breaking yet hopeful look at the life and death of a child. Tracy and Jason Ramos had made the decision to stop having children after their sixth, so when she unexpectedly became pregnant, the couple felt a mix of joy and worry. That worry became fear when in the fourth month of pregnancy the baby girl, Darcy, was diagnosed with trisomy 18, a genetic disease that made her "incompatible with life." Tracy fought the doctors who wanted her to end the pregnancy and began writing a blog in the form of letters to the precious little girl inside of her. She poured out her heart for the several months of pregnancy and the fifteen days little Darcy survived after her birth. During the course of their battles, the Ramos' faced despair and hope and saw incredible beauty and grace as friends and strangers poured out support in amazing ways. Tracy is brutally honest in her writing, making the story gut-wrenching. It's her faith that carries her through, but occasionally she faced doubt and deep depression, which allows readers to empathize in a way that wouldn't work if Tracy glossed over the rough spots or ignored the grief. Darcy's story brought several people to God, stopped others from aborting their trisomy 18 babies, and became a rallying cry for pro-lifers. Tracy's writing isn't polished or perfect, but it is the unvarnished truth about how God takes care of us and works His good through every circumstance for those who believe in Him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Letters to Darcy, December 24, 2009
This review is from: Letters to Darcy (Hardcover)
Tracy and Jason Ramos, faced news no one ever wants to hear. "Your baby is not compatible with life, it would be best to terminate the pregnancy" What horrible words to hear. This book is the story of the journey of carrying a baby with Trisomy 18 to full term and the fifteen days of little Darcy Anne Ramos's life.

Originally posted on a blog, Tracy shares her heart and sorrows, joys and hopes about her pregnancy. The journey she walked, the good and the bad. She is very very open about her distress, and she is also open about problems she and her husband faced during this difficult time. She shares her feelings about how others treated them, family and strangers.

A story of love, this journey will touch your heart. You will enjoy hearing about those days that little Darcy lived, all the things she was able to do on the Darcy list. A small book, with a big message, Letters to Darcy will touch you in a way you could not imagine. 150 page US $9.99 4 stars.
