Book Description

"America is truly unique—so diametrically different from any other nation conceived. But many people don’t understand and appreciate America’s distinctive qualities. In Letters to the Editor, author Jon Michael Hubbard questions whether all of those who reside in the United States are capable of being Americans; he contends that America cannot be all things to all people.

In this collection of letters written to newspaper editors, along with other related articles, the author shares his personal feelings and fears about an array of topics important in today’s world, including: liberals, patriotism, the military, politics, government, education, race relations, immigration and Christianity. Providing a provocative and informative discussion, he also delves into other related topics such as national security, energy issues, American industry, the mortgage crisis, and a woman’s right to choose.

In Letters to the Editor, Hubbard, a Vietnam era veteran with a deep love for this country, describes what it’s like to be a true American who understands and appreciates what this land offers. The mindset of a true American is fueled by ambition and a burning desire to succeed. Being an American is definitely not to be taken for granted."

Just because you publish a book doesn't make you an author. The truest thing about this book is its title, "Letters to the editor." Obviously, this fine gentleman can't really write convincing, consistent prose, and thus we have a compendium of him spouting off about a range of topics in short little bursts, much like an ineptly aimed machine gun.

This book thus combines an amateur's writing with an eighteenth century worldview, a truly remarkable achievement. It should be savored like the finer things of this life, including Boone's Farm apple wine or Spam.

1.0 out of 5 stars Jon Hubbard is a racist October 5, 2012
Format:Hardcover
This book is full of blatantly racists quotes and assumptions, and is boggles my mind that this obscenity like this is still being read and that people like him can actually be elected to office. Here is a good link of better examples of some of his most racist quotes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably Racist and Ignorant October 5, 2012
By SR
Format:Paperback
I find it hard to believe that someone can be so self-serving and ignorant as to write something this blatantly racist. As a member Arkansas House of Representatives, you should be ashamed. May the voters in your district deliver your pink-slip as soon as possible.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hubbard is a racist pig . . . October 6, 2012
Format:Hardcover
Hubbard is a white racist who would have Black Americans return to slavery, begin a war of extermination against immigrants, have education for white think-a-like-racists, and continue the work of ignorant people to dominate the earth. Hubbard is a Republican idiot, a fool, and a dangerous man. Hubbard represents the true spirit of the new, tea-bagging GOP. Hubbard is a waste of time, a fool, and no one should spend money to purchase his trash writing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just a quick quote. October 5, 2012
Format:Hardcover
"... the institution of slavery that the black race has long believed to be an abomination upon its people may actually have been a blessing in disguise. The blacks who could endure those conditions and circumstances would someday be rewarded with citizenship in the greatest nation ever established upon the face of the Earth." (Pages 183-89)

Good lord. How did this man ever find himself in public office? Furthermore, how in God's name was he able to get this book published?

Format:Paperback
The writer's frustrations are nothing but racist and insensitive rants.

Don't buy this book, unless you want to read ignorant and horrible things

1.0 out of 5 stars Idiot October 6, 2012
Format:Paperback
Frustrated conservative = More like a avid KKK member or Nazi. As I read elsewhere by his logic Jews should be grateful for the Holocaust since it led to establishing Israel.

1.0 out of 5 stars my,my,my... October 6, 2012
Format:Hardcover
I cringed reading this book. Luckily, I didnt have to purchase it. It belonged to my white power christian neighbors, and they were happily trying to indoctrinate me into their way of living. Arkansas sure must have changed. I spent some time there, back in the 70's. Met alot of lovely people. Actually, considered buying some land there. Glad I didnt. You, sir, are a disgrace to your state, this country and humanity.
