5.0 out of 5 stars From Perhaps The Greatest Author Of Our Age, March 22, 2006
This review is from: Letters from the Highlands (Hardcover)
While many readers know that Ms. Anne Perry could be characterized as the Master of Mystery - her best-selling thrillers entertain millions 'round the globe and frankly I don't know of a single person who does not have at least one of her books! Yet some have not had the distinict honor, pleasure, and utter delight of learning a bit about this brilliant female author of many genres - up close and personal so to speak. "Letters From The Highlands" is a Masterpiece and superb entertainment as well. Not to omit the fact that it will be highly collectible one day. It is not just a book of "letters" taken literally as one might assume from the title. It is a Memoir about her life: work, travel, hopes, dreams, spirituality, politics, law, love of nature - and the list goes on. Gorgeously published, designed and delivered with magnificent photos throughout in Scotland - many taken by Ms. Perry herself, the latter provides additional drama and interest. So, each slice-of-her-life takes one on a terrific journey with which we all struggle, hope to learn, and express joyfully as best as we can. Her vignettes about travelling, for example, to promote her books, and meeting absolute strangers in all sorts of places, are not only compelling, some are hilarious. She is honest to the core and admits to learning as she goes. So, a brilliant artist, Ms. Anne Perry, one of the greatest bestselling authors of all time - is a most humble, thoughtful, and generous soul. Buy the book like I did. You just might agree...it is priceless.
