Grade 3-6-Halvorsen tempts readers with fact-filled first-person accounts of her travels to national parks, illustrated with small, color photographs of the flora and fauna, animals, land formations, and interesting sights. This technique is a great way to pack lots of otherwise dry information into a brief number of pages and make it both fascinating and fun to read. Since the material is presented like a chatty travelogue, there is lots of white space, and the pictures look like kids could have taken them. The loose organization makes the books difficult to use for reports, but they are attractive browsing items. Also, since many teachers now use postcards/Web cards to introduce geography, they should find a place in social-studies units.

This book is almost like a pamplet to Yosemite. It shows you pictures of landmarks in the park like: Sierra Nevada and Yosemite Valley and El Capitan. It is also like a letter from someone in Yosemite. Like this one about Yosemite Valley:'' Yosemite Valley is only seven miles long and one mile wide, but it's where the most services are.'' Of course that was shortened to a couple scentences because they are big letters and I don't have that much space but at least you have the idea. Great for anything!
