Book Description

November 2004
"Of all of the tangible things that Mother left behind when she passed…we treasure few things more than we treasure her letters," –The children of Marjorie Pay Hinckley

This delightful sampling of letters by Marjorie Pay Hinckley spans nearly 50 years of letter-writing to her beloved family. The book is divided into six sections, which serve to group the correspondence into different stages of Sister Hinckley’s life: Letters from a Young Wife and Mother, Letters to a Teenage Daughter, Letters from a Sister, Letters to a Growing Family, Letters from a World traveler, and Letters to Grandchildren. Each section provides a glimpse into Sister Hinckley’s character – her faith, her values, her love, her enthusiasm, and her observations of everyday life.

Funny and inspiring!, September 26, 2008
By Alison

This woman was such a powerhouse in her own right. I felt like I came to know her true self through these letters and feel blessed to see her infectious sense of humor and optimism. It's no wonder why Pres. Hinckley was so in love with her!

I wish I had an ounce of Sister Hinckley integrity and faith!!!, October 19, 2004

I love this book!!! It was a beautiful read. I am sure I will read it again!!! I laughed. I cried. And, I feel in some small way I know Sister Hinckley, even though we have never met. She is the quality woman I would love to be.

Thank you for sharing Sister Hinckley, June 06, 2007
By Sherri

I just finished reading this book and cannot articulate how thankful I am that the Hinckley family published these letters and notes from Sister Hinckley. I laughed and I cried and really enjoyed getting to know more about Sister Hinckley. I especially liked the format of the book because each letter is a short read so it is nice when you only have a few minutes to read. I would recommend this book to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars very interesting, January 13, 2007
This review is from: Letters (Hardcover)

Those who are really interested in Marjorie Hickley's life -will find a lot of new facts about her. Just like in the other book "Glimpses on her life"-it shows what a wonderful and kind person she was.I really enjoyed reading her letters to her parents, kids and grandkids. Sometimes it's weird to think that she and her husband are normal, down to earth people, just like we are and with a good sense of humour. It was great to see how she was a young mom and then she became a grmother. This book was also interesting, because it reflects the earlier years in America, it's crises and changes from 40s to 80s. Great reading

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, April 27, 2010
This review is from: Letters (Hardcover)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a collection of letters written over the years by Marjorie Hinckley to her family and friends. I am impressed that so many letters were saved, and I am inspired to save some of my own correspondence.

Reading these letters really gave me an inside glimpse at Marjorie Hinckley. She is an inspiring woman with good advice and a great sense of humor.

I read this book some time ago, yet I still reflect on some things I learned from her that I try to implement in my life.

This is an easy and enjoyable read.
