Scott Hahn and Curtiss Mitch's annotation of Ignatius Press's Catholic Edition of the RSV New Testament is a work in progress. I have been buying it up volume by volume as soon as they can publish them, and I think it is far superior to any other annotated version of the NT out there. It offers footnotes cross referenced to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and citing the Fathers of the Church. They use symbols to communicate whether a note is commenting on the unity of the OT and NT (a book), the unity of the doctrines of the faith (a dove), or the living tradition of the Church (crossed keys). I cannot wait until they've finished. I use it every Sunday to answer questions about the Mass readings.

A great catholic bible study series. Wonderful foot notes that provide insight and make reference to the catechsim and the church fathers. I can't wait for them to complete the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid & Reliable Catholic Study Bible, March 16, 2009

This review is from: The Letters of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians, Timothy, and Titus (Ignatius Catholic Study Bible) (Paperback)
I am a pastoral minister for 2 large parishes. Since the beginning of the "Pauline Year (June 29th, 2008)," I have been teaching a series on the epistles of St. Paul. Actually, I kicked it off with the Book of Acts, followed by Romans, and am now concluding a 10 week class on Thessalonians, Timothy, and Titus. I have used the Ignatius Study Bible series for each of these classes. The "icons" that are used are wonderful; pointing out key passages which shed light in terms of Catholic Doctrine, the Sacraments, and on Authentic Catholic Interpretation of the whole body of Scripture--and its unity.

I especially prefer this study bible because even the notes and commentary bear the Church's imprimatur and nihil obstat. This is not always the case with other Catholic study bibles. Teaching from the Ignatius Study Bible, I am confident that I am giving a sound and insightful interpretation of Holy Scripture--in accord with the teaching authority of the Holy Catholic Church.

I highly recommend this study bible for both groups and individuals.
