A significant Bible publishing project,
By
This review is from: The Letters of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians, Timothy, and Titus (Ignatius Catholic Study Bible) (Paperback)
Scott Hahn and Curtiss Mitch's annotation of Ignatius Press's Catholic Edition of the RSV New Testament is a work in progress. I have been buying it up volume by volume as soon as they can publish them, and I think it is far superior to any other annotated version of the NT out there. It offers footnotes cross referenced to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and citing the Fathers of the Church. They use symbols to communicate whether a note is commenting on the unity of the OT and NT (a book), the unity of the doctrines of the faith (a dove), or the living tradition of the Church (crossed keys). I cannot wait until they've finished. I use it every Sunday to answer questions about the Mass readings.

A great catholic bible study series. Wonderful foot notes that provide insight and make reference to the catechsim and the church fathers. I can't wait for them to complete the series.

I am a pastoral minister for 2 large parishes. Since the beginning of the "Pauline Year (June 29th, 2008)," I have been teaching a series on the epistles of St. Paul. Actually, I kicked it off with the Book of Acts, followed by Romans, and am now concluding a 10 week class on Thessalonians, Timothy, and Titus. I have used the Ignatius Study Bible series for each of these classes. The "icons" that are used are wonderful; pointing out key passages which shed light in terms of Catholic Doctrine, the Sacraments, and on Authentic Catholic Interpretation of the whole body of Scripture--and its unity.I especially prefer this study bible because even the notes and commentary bear the Church's imprimatur and nihil obstat. This is not always the case with other Catholic study bibles. Teaching from the Ignatius Study Bible, I am confident that I am giving a sound and insightful interpretation of Holy Scripture--in accord with the teaching authority of the Holy Catholic Church. I highly recommend this study bible for both groups and individuals.

i read a lot of scott hahn so i decided to read his notes on the new testament and genesis...i read them, i love them!!! each front of one has the author - not who he was, but everybody he could be! then he goes on to explain all the main couldbes of the author, and why most picked the author they picked... and then the church's answer to it... he explains the layout of the book, who it was written to/for, and why... in the notes, at the bottom of each page of the book, the notes are abundant...some notes, because if you put in every note on every thing you end up with...the catechism, lol! no seriously the notes are worth reading, especially "contents and unity", "living tradition", "analogy of faith", topical essays, word studies, and charts... i like curtis mitch, too...but the intro to the gospels, etc, arent in the individual books, and the study questions for understanding and for application arent in the new testament... im looking forward to the old testament coming out individually and the old testament as whole... also some (i dont know how many or how to order them) comes in large, easy to read format! great for stroke, lol!

This is not a $1000 book!,
I have several from this series, particularly The Gospel of John and the detail and relevance to the Catholic faith is outstanding. However, it was not worth paying $1000.00! This may be a typo, but this book is for sale on the publisher's website for only $8.46!
