Great text, awful edition,

This review is from: Letters Upon The Aesthetic Education Of Man (Paperback)
Schiller's Letters make great reading, and are a key text in the history of philosophy.
Though this edition is cheap, it's worth spending the extra few bucks to get a better one. The book itself is poorly printed, and the pages and cover begin to curl with very moderate use. There are many errors in the copy, sometimes significant ones. And the translation leaves something to be desired (e.g. "the reason" instead of just "reason"). It seems just wrong for a book which takes beauty as one of its main topics to be presented in so ugly a format. *** I revised this rating and review from 2-star to 1-star when I realized that Letter XI is just plain missing from the book. It's not even in the TOC. |
