About the Author

Capt. Gerard (Jerry) Cook, journalist in Class 1933 at the University of Illinois, was assigned by the Air Force 1943 to 1947 to China - Burma - India. For two and a half years he wrote V type letters of his military life. His wife, Virginia, responded with chatty information from Peoria, IL. She traveled with him to New York City, Reno, NV., Goldsboro, SC. The exchange of 200 letters produced a learning experience of value to today's families.

Letters to Virginia is information based entirely on non-fiction action. Virginia Barbour Cook died at the age of 87. Jerry Cook compiled the letters and included photos from 1942 to 1946. He is now 88 years old.
