Editorial Reviews

Lorrie Morgan has been one of the biggest country music stars of the past 20 years, selling more than 5 million albums and scoring more than 15 Top 10 country hits. A member of the Grand Ole Opry, Lorrie is recognized as one of the greatest female singers of her generation. In addition her romantic life with country stars Clint Black and Sammy Kershaw as well as Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman has made her a high profile media personality as well.

Letting Go Slow is Lorrie's first pure country album in six years. It reunites her with producer Richard Landis who produced some of her biggest hits. The album includes beautiful versions of such songs as I've Done Enough Dying For Today and Ode To Billie Joe (which has never been covered by a country artist) as well as new compositions such as Slow, all made timeless by Lorrie's gorgeous vocals.

there is a MIX of NEW songs and OLDER songs......."SLOW" and "JESUS & HAIRSPRAY" are outstanding. "STRANGE" has never sounded better-esp being a non hit from patsy Cline. Lorries vocals are top notch- its her best album in 30 years. Has very ADELE'ISH Feel.

I have always been a Lorrie Morgan fan but came across this new CD by accident! I was looking at Loretta Lynn's upcoming release "Full Circle" and Amazon recommended "Letting Go...Slow". This is a great CD, and Lorrie looks fantastic on the cover (didn't even recognize her)! Stand out tracks on the CD are "Is It Raining At Your House", "Something About Trains", "Slow" and "How Does It Feel". She sounds great on this CD, and happy to see her back with Richard Landis as producer. Pure country!

If you're on the fence about this one, just buy it already. Listen to it 5 times, the whole way through to the end. Multiple tracks will be humming in your head. This is how you make an album.

I went to see Joe Diffie, Mark Chesnutt, and Lorrie Morgan perform a week ago. Near the end of the concert, she said she had a new CD and was going to sing a song from it. (Most of us were just like you at a concert. New music? Will it be any good?) She sang the new song "Slow" from this album. I knew instantly it was a phenomenal song. She totally blew me away! It fits her voice so perfectly. I hurried to the booth outside to buy a copy and have been listening to this on repeat for days.

The more times I listen to this, the more I am in love (actually, infatuated) with it. She is a country queen of ballads and "Slow" is a great one for the broken-hearted. That song is so Lorrie Morgan. It's the magic that happens when the right voice is matched with the right song.

"Jesus and Hairspray" is a great little boot-tapping song - it honestly sounds like something that could be on country radio in 2016.

"Something About Trains" is rapidly becoming my second favorite off the album.

I love them all - the covers are outstanding. There isn't a song on this that I could do without.

People are always complaining that modern country music isn't so hot. Try turning off the radio buzzards, who won't play Lorrie's music, and listening to this, instead.

I was a Lorrie fan way back in the day, but I'm a superfan, now. I honestly think this is her best album, front to back. Whether or not the country hierarchy thinks so, doesn't matter a bit to me.

Lorrie Morgan has always been a favorite of mine. With her inimitable voice, I could listen to songs like "Leave the Light On" and her early cds all day, but then she hit a dry period in the 2000s. With the appearance of new younger talent in country music, she will never again have the popularity she once had. But the fans she's had from the beginning are loyal and still looking for more from her. Unfortunately, her voice has not been at its best in recent years and truthfully she doesn't really have much range, if you know what I mean. She excels in singing as if she's speaking. But when songs demand long or high notes, it strains her voice and some of the songs on this collection test her voice and push it to its limits. But, the production values and complimentary acoustics/music helps this from being too unbearable. She knows too that less is more and keeps her voice from hitting those high notes. If you listen to the whole cd while doing things or sitting back in your recliner, you'll be more impressed with the collection on the whole, than if you hear one song here or there, that seem to be difficult for her. In essence, this is a mood piece, allowing you to relax and remember those good 'ole days when life was simpler. While Lorrie Morgan has been in better voice, this cd's simplicity and good production values make this a good Saturday afternoon choice with nothing to do but drink cappuccino.

A classic Lorrie Morgan album. Each track perfectly pairs the authentic voice of Lorrie Morgan with brilliant written songs. This collection shows the modern and mature woman she has become while selecting tracks that allow her to show off the range and depth of her voice.

This is vintage Lorrie. Lorrie is at the absolute top of her game with this album. She knocks this one clear out of the proverbial ball park. The raw emotion in the title song as well as in many of the others on this album is pure perfection. Lorrie's voice is in top form and these songs are just dripping with emotion. This album is wonderful and I am sincerely hoping it will get the recognition it truly deserves when Grammy time rolls around next year. Lorrie is exposing her heart with this album and I truly feel it is just exceptional.

Lorrie fans have been thirsting for Lorrie music for over five years now since her last solo album was released. She definitely satisfies that thirst. Lorrie should gain a lot of new fans with the music.

The title track written by her talented daughter in law and ex back up singer tells the story of love on the brink of going away. This is a great cut and there are many other cuts on this album that Lorrie does phenomenal covers for.

Do yourself a favor and download this album on your mobile device and buy an extra copy to pop in your cd player. I assure you that you will NOT regret it.
