5.0 out of 5 stars Stellar debut from this So-Cal band, November 11, 2010

I can't even remember how I came across Letting Up Despite Great Faults.I think it must have been a site like HypeM. I remember not being able to find them anywhere else on the internet except Amazon. At the time they had no reviews, but I made the purchase and I thank myself for it everyday.

Through the magic of the internet I was able to find the incredibly promising band right from my backyard.

Letting Up Despite Great Faults are from my home, Los Angles, but you would not be able to guess that from listening. Instead up the upbeat, poppy, sunny music from the city of sunshine you have a slower,

My closest modern day comparison to Letting Up Despite Great Faults would have to be The Radio Dept, one of my all time favorite bands.

However to get a true comparison, you'd have to go back to the early shoegaze bands like My Bloody Valentine. They remind me alot of a less intense My Bloody Valentine and if that isn't one of the best compliments I can give a band making their debut cd, I don't know what is.

The music is a mix of shoegaze, electronic, lo-fi, and indie. It is solid all the way through with no real missteps. It is slow or boring in the least, but instead brimming with quality.

The big highlight for me and the first song I heard from Letting Up Depsite Great Faults is "Our Younger Noise".

Other highlights include: In Steps, Sun Drips, Release, Pause, The Colors Aren't You or Me, and Folding Under Stories Told.

Do yourself a favor and buy this NOW no matter what your musical taste. This a type of music, especially done this well, that is very hard to hate.

5.0 out of 5 stars dreampop shoegaze indie fuzztastic, October 13, 2009

Think M83 meets New Order meets Figurine. Fuzzy, dreamy guitars, catchy synth melodies, bittersweet whispery vox, smart and punchy drums.
