The pen loop is way too small.

Exactly what i needed for my surface pro 2 to hold the stylus, It wont fit a pen with a large rubber grip but normal stylus and pens fit perfectly!

Bought a Surface Pro 2, and I love it for its versatility, but the magnetic pen holster is just not good enough for a mobile warrior. It can be knocked off easily in a bag and more importantly will block off the charging port when you need to juice it up. I bought the Leuchttrum Pen Loop to solve this problem and it is perfect.

Here's my pen solution, with pictures! After putting the pen in its magnetic port I carefully stuck the little stick-on pen loop right where the pens little hook would normally rest. This way I can get double the security and use the loop and the magnet at the same time when on the go. No loose Surface pens in my bag! This loop has a nice little 2 position "click" action not unlike the Surface kickstand, so you can snap it back for charging. Its also great in its little antenna position when you need it out of the way but easy to get to :)

The only downside is that, like other reviews have mentioned, it starts out pretty tight and leaves a little bit of a residue from the adhesive on the pen, but that goes away pretty quickly(I'd say like a couple weeks). The benefits are pretty obvious, and I'd say that this is essential for anyone with a Surface. I would also highly recommend putting the loop where I put it, as it does not intrude with the original design, protects the micro SD card slot, and provides double the security. Save yourself a lost Surface Pen, or just the bother of having it get knocked off/blocking the power port, and buy this now!

Update: Happily, after a couple of weeks, the elastic loosened to the point where the Targus stylus is easily inserted and removed with one hand. Revising it from 4 to 5 stars.
-------------------

As others have previously stated, the pen loop is indeed quite tight and rigid.

While this product would perhaps be OK for traditional pens and pencils with pointed ends (and, in fairness, was designed for such -- thus the 4 stars), it is not particularly well-suited for my desired application -- which was to affix it to an iPad case so as to hold a Targus stylus. Targus Stylus for Apple iPad, iPad 2, new iPad (3rd Generation), 16GB, 32GB, 64GB WiFi + 4G, iPhone, iPod, Tablet AMM01US (Black)

Since the end of the stylus is essentially half of a tiny rubber ball, it is -- alas -- too difficult to insert into the loop. I temporarily stuck a thick Sharpie into it, ran it under scalding water, and let it sit with the Sharpie overnight -- and did notice satisfactory loosening of the elastic material -- but suspect it will shrink back to original size once the extra-ordinary resistance is permanently removed.

Since this is not a complicated contraption, my next step is to simply make my own loop using a strip of Velcro (smooth side without the adhesive backing), a needle and thread, and some hot glue.

Bought this to attached the stylus of my Acer 15.6" Aspire Laptop 8GB 1TB | R7-572-6805 (Certified Refurbished) convertible laptop. This pen loop is the very same one offered for the Microsoft Surface 3.
My Aspire R7-572 laptop does not have a slot for the stylus and once the accessory arrived I had to decide where to stick it on the laptop. Due to the design of the convertible laptop which does regular laptop mode, rear presentation mode, tablet mode and closer to the keyboard mode. Placing the pen loop was not as simple as I thought. Placing it certain areas would stop the laptop from going into full tablet mode. Eventually I placed it in the spot that would not restrict the laptop in any of its modes but also accessible for quick use. (See images).
Overall I like this accessory. Time will tell if the sticky portion would stay on the laptop.
Currently I tested it on the following styluses.
Sony 2013 Vaio Digitizer Stylus Pen Vgp-std2 (N-Trig)
Due to the rubber section at the tip of the stylus, it would not fit in the pen loop. It will fit if you insert the top part of the stylus into the pen loop.
HTC Stylus Scribe Digital Pen for Flyer, EVO View 4G, Jetstream Tablets (90H02900-00M Rev. A) Retail Packaging (N-Trig)
This stylus is similar to the Acer Stylus for the laptop and it fits perfectly in the pen loop.

I have looked high and low for an iPhone case that has a stylus holder. There aren't any. Sure, you can have one custom made, but it would cost about $150. (I already priced it out.) I wasn't ready to shell out that much money. I tried telescoping styluses with pins that plug into the earphone port. I didn't like the fact that the stylus would swing loosely. It could possibly scratch the phone. I tried the Pogo stylus with clip. It does not fit the iPhone case, and it is a horrible stylus. Solution? Well, I could design one myself (and I DID consider this), but I would have to drop about 70 lbs before appearing on Shark Tank. (I'm just not that motivated right now) Or....I could spend a little less than $10 and buy the Leuchtturm 1917 Self Adhesive Pen Loop. I put this on the BACK of my iPhone case. Why you ask? Comfort!! When you are talking on the phone, it feels natural in the hand. If the stylus were placed on the right side of the phone, it would not feel right. So far it is perfect! I would highly recommend this. See images that I have uploaded. I am one VERY happy customer.
