Wow, I wish I could give this 6 stars! It's rare to find a well built product these days, and the alumina lens caps are amazing. They installed perfectly on my VX-R, although I had to unscrew the rubber safety ring from the eyepiece.

The caps stop on a piece of rubber in the hinge when 'popped' open, so the caps open quietly. They stop a few degrees from parallel to the scope (i.e. 'popping' the caps open doesn't make them lay flat against the scope), but a gentle press on the cap pushes them into a sort of locked position parallel to the scope.

Leupold will give 50% off (according to the packaging) if you need to retrofit your scope. The packaging also says the caps will fit most scopes made after 2003.

I bought these for Christmas to go with a VX-2 4x12 50mm that Santa brought my son. I have a set on my VX-L as well. These covers aren't cheap, but they are solidly constructed, and I consider them to be a must for any Leupold scope. They open smoothly and quietly, and close firmly to protect the lens element. Kudos to Leupold for producing these.

Before ordering your lens covers call and ask Leupold if the model number you are wanting to order will screw into your eyepiece. My scope had a threaded objective lens but the eyepiece was not threaded, meaning I had to send it to Leupold to have a threaded eyepiece installed at a cost of $54. I would think that it should have been done with no charge. On the plus side, everything went together great when I got it back. Great product!

Made in Malaysia! wow what happened to USA? My only gripe is when they are fully opened they stick up like those butler creek things. I think the description I read said that after opening they lay almost flat across the top of the scope. Also the Malaysia thing really threw me. Oh well, they fit great and are made very well.

I enjoy shooting my gun and so does my brother. I got these for my older brother because he saw the set I got and had to have them. The quality is unbelievable. They fit with precision and work smoothly and quietly.
