Product Description

Oma+ Movement Monitor

When baby is sleeping deeply, you should feel relief not worry. At Levana, we know the urge to compulsively check on a soundly sleeping infant is almost impossible to resist. That is why we are so proud to bring you Oma+. Oma+ is a cordless and battery-powered movement monitor that can easily be used everywhere you and baby go. Oma+ clips directly onto the diaper at the belly button area and senses baby’s tiniest movements. The sensor will gently vibrate to help encourage the return of regular movement after 15 seconds of complete stillness and will beep loudly to alert you if no movement is detected for more than 20 seconds. Bring home Oma+ with your precious little bundle and begin your adventures in parenting knowing that your baby is safe and sound in the hands of LEVANA.

Sensor Detects the Slightest Movement

Oma+ clips snugly onto baby’s diaper and senses baby’s tiniest movements with a soft, flexible sensor at the belly button area. Because your baby is in constant contact with the sensor, it is unlikely to give a false alarm, unlike an under-the-mattress monitor. Knowing you will only be alerted if the situation is critical will help you feel more at ease during baby’s deepest sleep.

Vibration Alert for Baby

If the sensor detects more than 15 seconds of complete stillness, the monitor will gently vibrate against baby’s tummy to help encourage the return of regular abdominal movements.

Audible Alert for Both You and Baby

If no movement is detected for more than 20 seconds, an alarm will beep loudly in an attempt to rouse baby and to alert you that your attention is required immediately. (Levana strongly recommends all new parents and caregivers become familiar with infant resuscitation and call 911 immediately if baby has stopped breathing.)

Optional Movement Alerts

Oma+ can also be set to detect weak and irregular movements. If abdominal movement is occurring less than 8 times per minute the movement indicator light will flash orange and a different warning tone will sound. This feature is enabled by default but can easily be disabled.

Completely Wireless & Conveniently Portable

We know that the safest sleep environment is a crib with all wires and cords at a distance of more than three feet away. This is why it is so important that your movement monitor is battery-powered and does not require you to run dangerous cords within or near your baby’s bed. The included long lasting battery and convenient battery life indicator lights are all you need to keep the Oma+ sensor reliable and your baby’s sleep environment free of wires. No need to disassemble and reassemble a movement monitoring system every time you head to the grandparent’s house. Oma+ movement monitor is compact and battery-powered, so you can easily pack it up and take it with you wherever you go. Additionally, because there are no wires, Oma+ is safe for use in Moses baskets, bassinettes and playpens.

We really like having this product as it helps give us peace of mind while our baby is sleeping at night in between checking on him.
Chamberlain
The CB cloth diapers are very thick in the front, which caused a few false alarms.

This review is hard to write. Two weeks ago today, we had what I thought was our first false alarm with this monitor. Only it wasn't a false alarm at all. I went to pick up my son and realized he was lifeless and not breathing. We called 911 immediately, and got him to the hospital. All tests were normal. The doctor thought his GERD paired with a deep sleep caused this. Had it not been for this monitor, I wouldn't have known he had stopped breathing.
THANK YOU Levana.
We bring our monitor with us everywhere, it's on him for naps, in the car seat, and at night.
I know these monitors are expensive, but they are so very worth every penny, and much much more.

Its hard to not get emotional writing this: I bought this because I'm kind of a nervous mom, and while they are clear in saying this monitor can't prevent SIDS, it may have prevented it for us. We have had several false alarms from not clipping it on to the diaper correctly, but one night we had a real one. It was 3 am and the alarm went off, by the time I reached my 3 month old son it had been about 50 seconds since he had taken a breath. I wouldn't have known he wasn't breathing until it was too late if it wasn't for this monitor. At first he was unresponsive but I was able to get him to breathe eventually. We took him in to the doctor the next day and found out he had reflux and reflux related apnea. And because of the apnea he had what is called an ALTE. I had no idea that reflux could cause a baby to stop breathing in their sleep, and is associated with some SIDS deaths. But now with some small changes we have his reflux under control: the baby sleeps at and incline, takes Zantac for babies, and has to be burped throughout the feeding process. Such simple things that could have meant his life. And if it weren't for this monitor we wouldn't have even known.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Being parents is not easy. If the baby is restless, we don't get rest. If the baby sleeps peacefully, we wonder if he or she is breathing at all, so we check to make sure the baby is breathing. Sometimes, the baby's breath is too soft for us to easily detect, and that makes us worry. We are sleepless because of a cry baby, and we are sleepless because of a quiet baby. Either way we are exhausted because of our love for the baby.

Oma or Oma+ gives parents precious peace when we get that valuable break time when the baby is sound asleep knowing that the baby is fine when he or she is quiet.

I've got both Oma and Oma+ the only difference is that Oma+ has a vibration feature to arouse the baby if it doesn't detect the baby's breath for 15 seconds. The alarm goes off only when the vibration has made its attempt to stimulate the baby. Regular Oma (not +) does not have a vibration feature.

I think either one is fine. Oma is cheaper than Oma+. Sometimes I don't think the vibration is necessary because if the child is not breathing for 15 seconds, I want to know about it right away, instead of being notified only after the device has attempted to stimulate the baby.

So if you want to save 20 bucks, buy Oma, but if you think the additional vibration feature is necessary, buy Oma+.

Either device will add some peace to the parents. So it's a good buy! It makes a great gift item for the new parents too!

This is the greatest thing. Of all the handy dandy things they make to make it easier for people to take care of their babies, this has to be the best. It clips on to the diaper right at the belly button. My baby still uses newborn size, but I put him in a size 1 to use this because that way there is not the belly button cut out and it is big enough to fold over at the top and ensure that the clip is tight and won't move. He fusses if I put it on the newborn diapers. I think it just goes down a little too low that way and annoys him. With it clipped on to the size 1, he doesn't mind at all.
The first night I used it, it went off twice, but he was fine when I checked on him, thankfully. I don't know if it woke him before I got to him or if they were false alarms. I'd rather have false alarms than not have any notification when it really is an emergency.
My baby has chronic lung disease due to prematurity and he is using oxygen 24/7. It is possible for any baby to stop breathing for any reason, but for mine it is more likely. I am able to sleep at night knowing that I will be alerted if he should hold his breath or do anything worth alerting me about. I would recommend this to any parents, but especially those with any sort of health issues like my little guy.

This is a great product. Works to perfection. My wife and I love the green light that blinks because we can see it in a dark room. We had one false alarm, but it was our error by not putting it on correctly. The alarm did wake us and we were able to respond quickly.

I have NEVER written a review, for anything….but I felt I needed to for this.

I have read a correlation between GERD (usually thought to be just colic) and SIDS as well as sleep apnea and SIDS, both of which my LO has issues with. If your baby has either one of these conditions this device is a must!!! BTW I would splash the extra $20 for the vibrating version….worth it! Really I would recommend it for everyone, for just peace of mind.

This device has 2 kinds of sound alarms, one that alerts you that your baby has not been breathing for 20 second and the other is to alert you that the vibration alarm has went off 3 times. The later has happened to me twice. The first time it happened I thought it was alerting me to the battery being low, so I just woke up my LO and bought new batteries. Then later, when my order for new batteries came in and I was about to install, I read what the alarm was actually for and it brought me to tears. Then last night it went off again. It scared me to death; I woke up right away and tended to her. She was lifeless and barely breathing. I did manage to wake her up and no CPR or 911 was needed…thank goodness!

Cons from other reviews: I have not experienced the “false alarms” other people are talking about which was perhaps most likely attributed to user error. I also read about turning the device off is a hassle because you have to take the baby to the diaper…personally I have turned off the device with clothes still on every time, just squeeze the buttons on the side…no biggie. And the complaint about batteries is null and void for me as replacing a $5 every 3-4 weeks is seriously NOT a big deal when you are considering that it could save your child’s life via alerting you to notice something is wrong….I would pay $100 a battery! With that said the batteries on amazon for this device are pretty cheap.
