Editorial Reviews

Review

"In this volume, Yuval Bar-Or offers a groundbreaking integration between the world of corporate success and psychological principles. This is a sophisticated analysis of why identifying core human motivations, abilities, and skills is not just useful but critical to understanding organizational accomplishments and failures and the leadership that is responsible for both. Through clear descriptions and concrete examples, this volume makes a complex dynamic system quite accessible. Corporate leaders, executives, managers, teams, and employees will find it invaluable to understanding how psychological influences affect, not just the bottom line, but the very survival of a company. This should be a must read for any company going through change or turmoil, particularly in today's turbulent economic environment." --Shani Robins, Ph.D., President of the Wisdom Therapy Institute and Wisdom Consulting International, and lecturer at Stanford University.

"[The author] does a great job in reminding us that people are the backbone of any organization. Struggling companies who ignore their people, and what drives them individually and collectively toward success, will likely not achieve the success they seek. With his emphasis on emotional intelligence and people insight, Bar-Or offers some badly needed reminders that no matter how good the company's product or service, it takes committed, motivated people to deliver it." --Workplace Magazine, July 2009

"Leveraging People For A Corporate Turnaround guides the reader through key leadership and management concepts with an approach that encourages introspection and learning. Yuval Bar-Or has created a pragmatic guide by weaving the core concepts of a turn-around with the author's direct experiences, observations and questions. He creates a vibrant and engaging experience appropriate for new managers and seasoned CEOs alike."
-- Martin Kornstein, PhD, President of ThunderCloud Innovation

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Managers!, May 27, 2009
This review is from: Leveraging People for a Corporate Turnaround: Leadership and Management Guidance for Organizational Change (Paperback)
Good timing with this book. There are a lot of companies in need of help and this broad treatment will come in handy. I think this book will prove especially useful for junior managers who are learning how to lead and handle subordinates for the first time or for senior managers who did not have the benefit of a structured leadership or management training program. It gives a lot of insight about how to assess the troubled firm and its people and provides a good overview of various corporate processes and functions which are sometimes neglected: one such function is human resources (HR). The book also has great examples.
